Server is slow right now

Everyone must be downloading right now or the Garmin server has problems. D/L speed at 5.3 Mbs. Checked the speed of other sites and all seems be be normal, so its not on this end.

Of course this comes after we made a trip to Yellowstone!

Did 660 first to SD card.

Did 660 first to SD card. Down to Lower 48 SE
To get NC & IL. 5Mb sec
Next my 2689. Note here that it saw for the first time my
USB card, and decided that is where it would go???
Backed out, disconnected and shut down, removed usb card powered up and reconnected to GE and THEN it put map in Garmin. 32.3Mb sec.
not finished yet
PS no sooner that I posted 32 Mb it fell to 10!

168 days. Beat the old post-2008 record of 147 by 21 days. Just 3 weeks shy of half a year.

Who's taking bets that Garmin will soon be down to 2 updates per year?

2689 finished ok. Note that

2689 finished ok. Note that after W7 said Garmin Drive has only 441MB free.

Starting wife’s 2689. Her usb card removed b4 update
569MB free.
After update 488 free

HMMMMM!!

Bet we’ll have a update on the HOW TO REMOVE
UNNECESSARY FILES ON 2689..... in the near future!!!!

A Different Thread

Typically, that is a another different thread. mrgreen

I just have a normal cable internet

All these people claiming how fast they had a download are not
telling how expensive their internet connection is to get a fast connection!!!

They are also not telling what they downloaded.

1.) Lower 48 ONLY and to GPS only.
2.) Lower 48 Only to computer and GPS
3.) Complete N.A Only to GPS
4.) Complete N.A to computer and GPS
5.) Only selected maps and only to GPS

All this including my first paragraph makes one hell of a difference in how fast the download goes !!!!

Not impressed

There were two new roads that I was eager to see if they would be included in the 2020.20 update. One, being in the town where I live; I really didn't expect to be on the update, it wasn't; so no big deal. The other is a new exit off of I-71. This exit has been under construction for the last two years. I did expect to see this one in the update, but, nope; it wasn't included either. Hard to figure why this one was not included since this thing has been open for the last three or four months and since it has been under construction for so long. Waze had this interchange on it's map set even before it was opened and as soon as it opened, it showed up on the map as being open within a week. Hard to figure why Here didn't include this.

Hooked up DS 55 to WIFI and 3597 to computer. They both finished within about 2 minutes of each other. 150mb service. I didn't download the map to the computer with the 3597. That's what take 2 hours or more. Download by itself, it took about 10 minutes.

Fast update.

No problems with the map updates, both on the Nuvi 265 and 2597.

Updated

30 minutes later -- all updated, files moved and large JCV installed on SD card.

NO hickups or glitches. Test comes tomorrow when I take a short roadtrip through downtown Las Vegas, NV.

.

Figures. Lent my Garmin to my sister for her drive across Canada. Hope she doesn't get lost. I'll update next month. It's Waze & Google until then.

Started the update....

earlier today by updating Garmin Express to the latest v6.16.0.0 for PC.

Connected the 2455LMT to the laptop and explored the available map update information in GE. Started the update and it took 35 minutes from start to finish. This includes the Time Zone Map, Proximity Alert Text, TrafficProvider and Full Coverage NA 2020.20 map updates.

Left GE up and running. Got out the 2555LMT, connected it to the laptop and started the update. Start to finish for the update was 25 minutes. Didn't think the update times were bad considering they were done on an older Windows 7 laptop with a 2.2 GHz processor and a 150MB internet connection.

Haven't had time to test either unit in operation, but all looks normal. Put it this way - 2 thumbs up with 2 units now running CN North American NT 2020.20 Full Coverage maps!

Already more than six months out of date

In DE, the new 301 bypass (an EZ Pass only, 30 mile long by pass around over crowded Middletown)opened to public use on January 1, 2019. After waiting for more than six months for a map update that would stop my Garmin from constantly telling me to get off this by pass because it was not open yet, this new map still does not recognize the roads existence.

Garmin map updates are becoming less frequent, and more importantly, unreliable for high mileage travelers.

Sadly, that does seem to be the case. Wednesday and Thursday I was on a road trip. Actually, it was pretty much dead simple. I went from a suburb of Saint Paul MN to Madison WI. So, a good part of the trip was on I-94. I used my Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S and a Sonim XP8 smartphone running Google Maps. It does seem like Google Maps keeps trying to "Step up their game". They keep adding features. Garmin just seems to be at the "Status quo" level.

We have another trip to the Milwaukee WI area on Sunday. It is likely I will do the same thing, again. I will use the Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S and my Sonim XP8 simultaneously.

I know how you feel, Google

I know how you feel, Google maps recognized the 301 bypass the day it opened. Garmin is losing their edge completely...…

Even worse, the Here! app on my iPhone recognizes the road, and they provide maps for Garmin......

Need to get this I guess....

I have two old 760s that I use. I guess I'll get this for both. One is licensed for the full deal. The other is only good for the lower 48. Leaving on a 6-7 week trip in a couple of weeks so will update maps, red light cameras, rest areas, and other poi files. Good to get ready to go. cool

Great, time to download.

Finally!

Always love getting updated

Updated two DriveSmart 61 in

Updated two DriveSmart 61 in less than an hour. Still have two 2460's a Zumo 450 & 550 to go.

DS61 had 2 software updates and the map
2460 had 4 software updates and the map
The Zumos (459 & 500) are only showing the map.

ETA did the 2460s, no problems, slightly longer probably because of the time of day.

2020.20 Active now, but still missing a lot

Yeap, it's active now to download. Took one hour to update 1 GPS
Happy at beginning but feel not good right away. Many roads
still not update, new bridge still not on the map, speed limit
still showing wrong in many streets, some speed limit on Garmin
shows 40, but actually it's 30.

Let's see if Garmin still bring us to the middle of desert or
not. Time will tell.

Thanks!

Will install shortly. Anyone have issues with the update on a Garmin Nuvi 760 or 765?

I only update 1-2 times per year.

How to fit on a Nuvi 650?

Thanks. But before I download, I need to ask.

Prior to the last map update, I had been successfully installing all of Canada and the US on my Nuvi 650, which has an 8Gbyte SD card. With the last install, I could not do it. Two possibilities emerge.

1. The downloaded files are now too large.
2. I did something wrong.

I have been using Garmin express. Prior to the last map update, I was able to load (between the Nuvi and the SD card) both Canada and the US. With the last (prior) map updated I was unable to include Canada.

Any thoughts on how to get both Canada and the US installed on a Nuvi 650, assuming that the map update has not gotten too large?
