I've tried several times to download the 2009 update from Garmin for my nui 660.
It seem to download and extract files, but then I get a message saying an internet connection cannot be found and everything locks up. Has anyone else experienced this an d if so, has anyone found a fix
thanks

.
What type and speed internet connection are you using?
Are you using dial up?
It will be difficult if you are using dial up. Dial up is too slow and takes to long, therefore if you are that is why you are having problems.

Only took 4 days to get from Garmin, and updated the 750 in 70 mins. Didn't have to go with this nosense with their systems being down. Was nice and easy.

download was easy
I downloaded the update from Garmin's site yesterday - I have Ultra High Speed connection with my provider - took me about 23 minutes for the download to complete.
Haven't had the time yet to install the update to my nuvi or desktop - plan on doing that over the weekend
DVD update contacts the server, too
I'm installing the DVD update. It still has to contact the Garmin Server to verify and probably update serial numbers. Even though all the data is on the DVD, I still had to wait quite a while and retry 7 times to connect to the Garmin server. Lots of people installing updates.
update complete

Found some time to update last night. First time I tried to connect, the Garmin site updated the firmware on my 650. After that it took about 4 more attempts to connect to Garmin's server for the main install but I must have got lucky and got connected. The install took about 1 1/2 hours to complete. The 2008 maps on my GPS were replaced with the 2009 (no double map issue like some have had). The mapsource program on my desktop was also updated (both 2008 and 2009 are now available for use). I played around with my 650 and everything seems to work okay - no delays in loading etc.

I talked to Bill at Garmin tech support yesterday about map updates on disk for my nuvi 750, purchased mid-February from Sam;s Club. He told me that I was ahead of the March 1 cutoff date, but he would go ahead and order the update for me. However, he said that due to demand, it could take four to six weeks for me to receive my disk. I am leaving June 4 for a trip to the Rockies. I will keep my fingers crossed that I get the update before then.
