Nuvi 260 firmware update (Ver. 4.1) available

Garmin apparently has been busy. Upgrade from Version 3.6 to 4.1 is 5.68 MB to "correct issue with retail map update compatability." Whatever ... always worth upgrading firmware because often there are little tweaks in other code they don't mention.
And, a new "feature" I had never noticed before. If you press on address bar with destination set, it shows the turns without displaying the maps you see when pressing "next turn in."
Update Failure
I've tried getting this update several times. It always fails with an I/O error at 88%. I tried updating my nüvi and my memory card. Neither works.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Is the Map Scale restored? If not, I won't be in any hurry to update the firmware.

This thread is about the Nuvi 260, so maybe you need to ask someone with a 200 like yours????
The update installed in my 260 with no problems.

That "new" feature has always been there.

Parhaps you overlooked it, that feature is there on the 3.6

I wasn't trying to suggest it was something new added by the update, only that I had never noticed it before.

I loaded the software this morning on my 680 and had no problems.

The problem is with the WebUpdater, not my nüvi. The file it downloaded is corrupt. I'll try again this evening.

Do the newest updates do anything noticable, or are they just for map compatibility? I'm bummed that the map scale still hasn't been restored.

this update, unfortunately, does not revive the map scale. C'mon Garmin...

I used WebUpdater three days
I used WebUpdater three days ago and this is what I have now for my 260W:
software version: 3.40
gps sw version: 3.00s
It seems I didn't get any firmware update 4.1, but rather 3.4. Is there somewhere I can find out the latest firmware for a GPS? I tries this site:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/blosp.jsp
but it didn't have the nuvi 260W.

PS I assume that the updates for 260 and 260W should be the same?
Wide and non-wide are different
The wide and non-wide units use different firmware version. Wides are using 3.40. non-wides 4.10.
