Garmin Nuvi660 Magallen Triton500

new with this

Call me paranoid, just got my nuvi 660 in February and I love it. Just want to confirm from you more experienced users that I wouldn't be messing anything up or deleting any files when running this executible file on my nuvi?

Thanks a bunch!

Not paranoid -- smart

If you are buying the update, it might be necessary. If you are not, you have nothing to gain that we know of -- they haven't fixed the stuff that is known to be broken. Remember that old saying, "If it ain't broke . . . " I think it was the 4.2 upgrade that broke the mp3 alerts while playing mp3 music/books. 99% chance you will be fine, but why take the 1% risk. If you do decide to proceed, back up the unit first and then, as you say, use the executable, not WebUpdater.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

thanks

Thanks or your response. What is WebUpdater used for?

Fixes some installation problems

My guess is the update fixes the problem some POIers had in getting the 2009 City Navigator update maps to install.

WebUpdater purpose

WebUpdater matches your device with available firmware and other system files for your particular device. This usually includes voice files, vehicles, traffic firmware, and device firmware. WebUpdate will download and install the files you request. Be aware that you usually need to shut down the device and then restart in order for the new software to be functional. Restarts will be longer but do give a display of the install status.
