Nuvi 350 lock-on times?

Hi everyone - new member here.

I recently picked up a nuvi 350 and I am concerned about how long it takes to lock on a signal upon startup. I turn it on in my underground parking, and when i leave, it takes 3-4 blocks to get a signal and then a few more to remove that 'awaiting better accuracy' signal. .. is this normal? Should I be starting it up after i get out from underground?

it depends

Turning it on in the under ground parking will not expedite acquisition, also what happens when you leave your underground parking. Do you have a clear view of the sky from horizon to horizon or are you surrounded by tall buildings?

Also when you begin to move before the acquisition takes place it takes longer to lock regardless of the view of the sky.

thanks for the reply! I

thanks for the reply! I will try turning it on once I am out from under ground, and not moving - as I am usually moving when i come out with it on, so that would slow down the signal aqusiiton - but I do have a pretty clear view of the sky

That's how my 350 and 760 behave

If I sit still after powering up, acquisition takes 30 seconds or so. If I power up and start moving right away, it can take several minutes. Try moving out of the garage, park, and then power up. See if that goes faster.

yes, i found it best to

yes, i found it best to first turn on your GPS, perhaps while your car is warming up, letting it lock on to the signal while you are not moving. this works much faster than trying to lock on to a signal while moving.

Lock on time

I have a 250w and moving with my car or not does not change the lock on time. It lock on in 15 or 20 sec. to before 1 minute.
