Free Garmin nüvi 200

There is a very long thread going regarding the price of the nüvi. I was going to post this there but figured I'd start a new thread so that, perhaps, more folks might see it. Anyway.......

The cheapest price I've found for a Garmin nüvi 200 is FREE. I'm in the queue and waiting for mine at the moment. I signed up for an offer for a free nüvi 200 through a third party site when you apply for, are approved, and then use, a new Discover Miles card. I made a new email account in case of horrid spam but, so far, haven't received a single piece of spam in that account.

I got the card and used it and have a number in the shipping queue. I checked the deal out thoroughly before signing up. It's legit. Many folks (who signed up before I did) have received their free nüvi 200.

The offer is located here: http://tinyurl.com/6nsfrn

Discussion regarding the offer and testimony by folks who have received the free GPS are located here: http://tinyurl.com/592y54

Read the later pages of that thread to find where folks are receiving their units.

Many folks are receiving the units shipped directly from amazon.com and there is discussion regarding possibly returning the unit for amazon credit. I'm considering doing this myself and returning the free 200 for credit toward a 255W for my wife. If that doesn't work out she will still have the 200 for a price that can't be beat.

Got it....

Well, I posted the original message 3 weeks ago and got not a single response. I guess folks thought it was a scam or just didn't want a free nüvi because it was "only a 200". Whatever. Mine arrived today.

I used a "throw away" email address for the offer in case of spam but never received even a single piece of spam mail in that account.

My wife will enjoy the free nüvi 200.

I always check the other thread...

Thanks for posting it in the other thread or I would have missed it!

I signed up, and was approved.

Hopefully I won't get "offer expired" message.

free nuvi

wonder if this is still valid, if so I'm doing a little christmas shopping early

Try this one....

I just signed up for the Discover card option through this URL: mygpsoffer.com

I received the card and there is no annual fee so it doesn't even cost you. You validate the card by making a purchase and they will ship you the Nuvi 200. I haven't received mine yet but it's only been 2 weeks and they tell you it will take longer to deliver from Amazon.

However, I personally know 3 people in my office that have new Nuvis as a result of this offer. I just bought a Nuvi 260 but it never hurts to get a free one!

Thanks Thrak!

I signed up for a card. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the offer is still good.

Hey Thrak, a thanks from me too.

I got an email today saying my free Nuvi 200 has been mailed today via USPS. Now I wish I'd been reading all those posts telling me about adding files so wav files, not Mp3 files, would play on the Nuvi 200. Seems I saw a few posts telling what file NOT to download and one to download that works. Anyone out there know where the directions were on this board? Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks again Thrak, I know I'll love my, as someone else put it, "measly" free Nuvi 200. smile I for one, won't look a gift horse in the mouth!

Be well,
Rayers

Do a search on "Sox" and you should find a good bit of reading material. It is important to get the correct version of Sox and Gary A has a couple posts detailing where to get the right one.

Wow, that's a cool deal.

Wow, that's a cool deal. I'm not in need of a GPS, but a few friends at work might find it useful since they are not yet sold on the GPS idea (but interested).

I think the offer is still valid. I got my gps on Aug. Since I do not really need the gps, I returned it to the seller -- amazon.com and got the store credit.

Free Garmin 200

I usually think those deals are a rip-off, but I'll have to go check it out. I just purchased my first GPS (a Garmin 200W). My daughter goes off to college next year, and I wanted to get her a GPS, because she's terrible with directions.

Returning for credit details?

Do you refuse the shipment so you don't have to pay for return shipping?

Does the credit go to your existing amazon account?

More details about the amazon credit process please.

Gift return......

I believe you do it as a "gift return" since you don't have a receipt. You end up paying something like $5 or so shipping. Still, it's quite a deal for free....

It's been over 4 weeks, still no email.

If you still have the email, could you tell me who it came from so I can check on the status of my Nuvi?

Thanks,

Before they ship, they will verify the shipping address one more time -- by email. You might well have it before that. I believe that is just about the time frame in which mine showed up.

If you want to keep the nuvi 200, be there for the delivery! Do you have family that could be at your house to accept delivery? UPS will return the package after 3 deliery attempts.

Course, that might work out well, if they automatically give you $150 amazon credit, and that's what you are after. Not sure what happens in this scenario...

Got it also

I also received the email - applied - approved and received the Discover card. Also thought I would start receiving a lot of junk mail and a lot of offeres for more cards. Not another offer nor more junk mail. Took several weeks but did receive the Nuvi 200 directly from Amazon. Not sure it can be returned since this wasn't a cost factor associated with it. Gave the unit to my wife.

I will have to check this

I will have to check this out. I currently have a 200W but my wife could use one.

Mine came by UPS - 6 weeks after i applied for the card

It's all relative..

I forwarded the info to some relatives in the States. Hope they take advantage of the offer. However there are so many scams, spam and assorted freebies, (Applebees, Walmart, free laptops etc.) They may not believe.

Not yet

Over the weekend, my sister and my daughter each got their confirmation email with tracking number stating it was coming UPS from Amazon.

The not so funny thing is that they applied for their card AFTER I did and I still haven't gotten an email. sad

I sent an email off to the fulfillment center asking that they check the status.

I did everything right, guess I'll just have to be wait a little bit longer.

Free Garmin Nuvi

And I guess this is still a good offer? I'm wondering if I can get one in time for Christmas as I have 2 kids who could both use one. But one free + one paid for = 1/2 price for both. Still a good deal!

The offer is legit

The offer is 100% legit. I got a Garmin 200 and a Canon A590IS from them within a month each time after I used the card at least once. Make sure that you enable cookie in your browser so it can track the session in transition.

My Garmin came in on Tuesday. My sister, my aunt, my daughter all in Massachusetts, got them on Tuesday.

Yep, I did activate it, I did use it and I did get it!

The offer is still open if anyone else wants to apply. Makes a great Christmas gift.

Got an Order ID number (6179xxx) on 10/3/2008
E-mail 10/9 stating Garmin 200 was shipped.
Got Garmin 200 today 10/10/2008 after requesting the new card on 9/17/2008. Shipping was by Amazon using USPS. That's 3 week service.
Garmin 200 was new in an unopened box with the 2009 maps installed. The manual is very basic and does not cover any advance instructions. Have learned at lot just from POI-factory groups.
I just used POI loader and loaded my custom POI files into the new Nuvi 200.
Have been using an old Garmin C320 and have not figured out how to transfer over my Favorites or add any new POI files to the SD card.
