Garmin talk

The cradle for the 750, and probably the same for the 8xx's, on the left side of it, there is a hole which is 2.5 in size because a jack for a cell phone headset snaps in it perfect but does nothing. Does anyone know what that port is for?

Can anyone tell me why, when I enter a new location, the resulting list of cities appears to be unsorted and displayed in a completely random fashion?

When my nuvi 680 gps is on the map screen but not navigating my current speed is displayed on the lower right hand corner. When I am navigating then the ETA is displayed. I would much rather have the speed displayed during navigation as my old speedometer does work all that well. Is it possible to change this setting? How?

With some batteries it lengthens battery lifetime if you let them discharge almost totally before recharging. Does this apply to the Nuvi 350 ?

If it's better to let the 350 discharge substantially before recharging, how many bars on the charge indicator should be remaining before one recharges ?

I may have accidently reset my Nuvi 260W and when I now turn it on it indicates "No detailed maps found that support routing. The Nuvi cannot be used without them." Getting past that screen, I checked the map settings and the "map info" button is grayed out. I just got my Nuvi in July and it has City Navigator North America NT 2009 Deluxe on it. Now I don't know how to get it back.

Should the alerts go on all the time I past a POI if I have the Proximity Set to on?

Has anyone seen a POI listing Ford dealerships in the US?

I just signed on yesterday and I have had a ball reading the discussion forums and loading POI;s into my Garmin.

I am curious though I am trying to set alerts for the Rest Areas POI:

The last few weeks have been a nightmare!

I have a Nuvi 660 (2 months old) that is ready to get chucked. (Not really..but the frustration certainly makes you think about it..)

can someone tell me how we can tell if we download anything into the unit. Does it show up anywhere? We just got a nuvi 255w and trying to dowload stuff on it.

Turned off and unplugged my Nuvi 660 last night while I was stopped for a while. Got the Nuvi back out and turned it on and it loads up and says updating GPS software for a few seconds and then loads like normal. Only problem is that it never connects to any satellites nor shows any satellites that it is trying to connect to. Also it will only power up when it is plugged in.

Hi. Just purchased a Nuvi 200w and experimented with alerts, .wav's, and TourGuide etc. and all seem to work OK. But.....

My loader keeps freezing after I select which files I want to use. Please help

I don't know if I'm stating the already known/obvious, but I was playing around and found that you don't need to have the word "Speed" in the file name to get a speed alert. So instead of lets say "School Zone Speed 25.csv" you could have "School Zone 25.csv" and it would do the same thing.

I have a nuvi 200 and need to load some pics onto a SD card. I noticed the preloaded ones load quickly but mine load very slowly. I am uploading them uncompressed (large files from a 7 megapixel camera) onto a 1 gig card.
Is there a resolution that works best with the 200?

How do you add comments to .gpx files? I'm using a windows based cpu, and I have PoiEdit. I have been unable to enter the information I would like to enter for example, addresses, phone numbers, notes, etc. It appears to only allow a minmum amount of characters on the line. Some.gpx files I have downloaded from this site have this information, while others don't.

Since my Nuvi 660 uses a mini-usb port which is fairly standard across many devices today, I tried hooking it up to my Motorola phone v3m car charger. It seems to charge okay, but I don't get any GPS functionality while doing so because the Nuvi thinks it's connected to a computer (the data connection logo comes up).

Hi! I just came back from a trip, with one of my friend who has a garmin 350 and me a 680, and I found that most of the time He will have found more Poi with his 350 than with my 680.

Like close to bush garden in Virginia state He found a KAO very close, and mine found one at 45miles away, do you know why?

It's look like he has more Poi than me.

"UPDATE: DO NOT DOWNGRADE Nuvi 760 from 4.00 using the files in this thread or you WILL lose bluetooth functionality and have to ship the unit back to Garmin for servicing."
