How do I get the subscription code for fmtraffic on the Nuvi 465T

My Garmin Nuvi 465T tells me to go to www.garmin.com/fmtraffic to acquire a subscription code and to enter my traffic receiver id but ive wracked my brain for hours to find any such thing. HELP

I already know why I can't... show me how I can...

.

For the free FM Traffic service, all you need to do is to be in a coverage area and connect the unit. Once the unit gets a satellite lock and receives the FM traffic signal, the free subscription will be usable on the unit.

See http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/ for coverage area.

If your area is not covered, the subscription will not be started for the unit until you are in a coverage area.

Receiver Id

Assuming your device did not come with the free FM ad supported traffic subscription the procedure is quite simple:

1) Go into Tools->Settings->Traffic and select "Add Subscription".
2) The screen will tell you your receivers' 10-digit serial number and the URL to go to.
3) Go to the Garmin subscription URL and follow the directions to provide that 10-digit number.

You can find the details on page 34 of your manual at http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi465T_OwnersManual.pdf

According to the specs

According to the specs lifetime traffic included. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=275&pID=31541#specsT... as per DorkusNimrod
should just be able to plug it in and ready to go.

Is Traffic included?

When I look at the page on Garmin for the 465t, I do not find anything that implies that the 465 CAME with an integrated traffic receiver out of the box like my 765t did. On the accessories page, I see that a GTM 25 with lifetime traffic can be purchased.

All units with a T in the name (465T) come with a traffic receiver and free lifetime traffic in the package.

Scroll down to Features and the following is listed:

"FM traffic compatible: yes (receiver and lifetime traffic included)"

You're right

DorkusNimrod,

I didn't look close enough. The word integrated is indeed in the language of the 465t.

However, I have seen stores here in town (mostly HHGregg) that advertise a Garmin "t" model but list that the traffic subscription is an extra charge. This implied to me that Garmin permits some retailers to sell the "t" models without the FM receiver cable circuitry in the power cord.

@rickbiehle

When you connect the unit to the car outlet you should shortly see a green icon for traffic on the gps screen. If not you may not be in area to receive the signal.See http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/ for coverage area.Any time you get of area of coverage you will lose the icon for traffic.
