Ghost speed traps

I load only the Redlight cam file and verified more than once that the file contains only Redlightm but my nuvi continues to alert me of Speed Traps...cannot find them...probably from previous installation.

I even went ahead and delete the Current.gpx. Things did not help.

Please help. where do I begin to invest why, and the fix.

Speed Traps

Your Speed Trap files are not in the current .GPX file, that file is your favorites.

The speed trap files are named .gpi, they are located in the POI folder. Please review what is in your POI folder, you should find the speed trap file there. You can either save it to your computer or delete it.

One note, if you only see one file in the POI folder that means when the gpi file with POI loader was created, you combined the Speed Traps with the Redlight Cameras. You will need to delete that file and then cretae a new file only containing the RedLight Camera usng POILoader.

Nuvi 2460LMT 2 Units

Backup

Before you do anything else, do a backup. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30394

As a bit of information, the current.gpx file is an OUTPUT ONLY file that is created anew EVERYTIME you turn your Nuvi on.

Where are they?

Do you know where they are happening? If you can record one or two specific areas, run the unit in simulation mode and see what you get routing past one of those spots, then check to see what is in the file for that area, or if there is anything else on the unit.

Recently, I started getting a speed alert on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, when I know there are no speed cameras in the state. I just ran a simulated route, and discovered that one of the airport POI files I loaded includes elevation information, with the "@" symbol as part of the record. There is a hospital heliport nearby, and I was getting a speed alert off of that.

What I did was when I saw the alert in simulation, I stopped the route, then did a "Where To" choosing "Extras" and "All Categories" under Custom POIs (Your menu options may be different.) I looked at what points were showing up, and checked the CSV file. I ended up replacing the symbols globally in Excel.

Old file not new

My guess is your grabbing an old file to load, not the new updated version. Also, I open the new file and find several of the cameras that I'm well aware of and erase them from the list so I don't get a warning every time I head to and from work.

...

Check the GPX folder and delete the speed camera file.
