Custom POIs not showing up

Tonight I just re-added my Custom POIs to my StreetPilot and they loaded as they normally do. When selecting Custom POIs under Where To and selecting one of my categories (Dunkin Donuts as an example) it says "No Matches Found".

I should also point out I am a few thousand miles away from the closest one (no clue how far exactly). If I turn off WAAS/EGNOS and run in simulation mode, the Custom POIs will show up if I pick my Home location (or anything in the US).

The locations stored in Favorites will show up regardless of which mode I am in.

Another interesting thing I've noticed is that my Favorites, which normally are shown in order from the closest to furthest, now appear to be randomly listed when operating in normal mode.

Other Side Of The World?

Does the list include the distances, or just the names of the Favorites? If you don't have distance numbers to compare, then it could be that the list is still sorted by distance but the results look random because the Great Circle routes that represent the "direct" paths to the various points are quite different.

For example, if you were on the exact opposite side of the globe from Lebanon, KS (i.e., on a boat roughly between Australia and the southern tip of South Africa) then sorted distances might look random because locations on the west coast of the US (going one way around the world) could well be interspersed with those on the east coast (going the other way around).

That's my guess, anyway.... smile

I'll check tonight

You could say the other side of the world for sure... I am planning a vacation when I return, and was using the GPS to enter in my favorites and to search for POIs as well but without putting it into simulation mode. This is how I noticed the weird behavior.

It does list the name of the Favorites and the distances. For the most part, they are listed in order by distance, however there are a few anomalies in the sort order.

I'm sure when Garmin designed the GPS they weren't thinking of the effects on the POIs from around the world since it isn't possible to drive from one to another, but out of curiousity I was checking the behavior.

If you set your position somewhere on the other side of the globe from where you're from in a simulation mode, you may be able to see what I'm referring to a bit better.

I have been to Lebanon Kansas a few years ago, middle of nowhere type place in the middle of the US (quite literally).
