Still No Fix

Still no fix for GLG. That has been broken since 4.00.

cross street names

Thanks, I just saw the update while doing my weekly POI updates. Whenever I have any unit connected to the PC I always do a quick webupdater check before disconnecting. I'm gonna start updating the 2nd 765T shortly. I wonder if they put the cross street names back on the banner while not navigating.

Additional map file on SD now supported

Gee...

Garmin could have mentioned in the release notes that the additional map file on SD must be named "gmapsup1.img"

SD:\garmin\gmapsupp.img on SD one name recognized
SD:\garmin\gmapsup1.img on SD other name recognized

After playing around with the update...
It seems odd to me that the "gmapsup1.img" is now recognized as a second supplementary map on SD but still NOT recognized when placed inside the 7x5.

765:\garmin\gmapsupp.img ok as expected
765:\garmin\gmapsup1.img NOT !!!

Update Ruined Touch Screen

That little voice was telling me "it ain't broke, don't update" but it had been a long while since I'd updated my firmware so I gave it a shot.

Now the unit freezes up after a couple of button presses, never goes automatically to the map on startup and is just thoroughly buggered.

Where's that site for downloading older firmware versions again? I've got to roll this one back.

Thanks

Try a hard reset before backdating. It's been known to solve random issues.

Expect

Expect all you need is a hard reset which should be done after any firmware update. Do a forum search for reset procedures and be sure to backup the current.gpx file first so don't loss your Favorites.

Garmin has moved the location of old firmware so they are pretty hard to find now.

That

That site doesn't look like it's has any Nuvi updates posted since Jan. 2010 and I don't think there is any 7x5 firmware there at all.

I'll wait one more day

I usually install these on the first day they come out... But I may wait one more day (please let us know if a hard reset fixes your Nuvi)

I have kept them all since 3.60 for the 7x5 series:

nuvi7x5_regionfileonly__360.gcd
nuvi7x5_regionfileonly__390.gcd
nuvi7x5_regionfileonly__400.gcd
nuvi7x5_GCDFile__430.gcd
nuvi7x5_GCDFile__440.gcd

They were downloaded from http://www.garmin.com/software/ back when they were available.

for 765 users

Has anybody with a 765T confirm if they updated to thenew firmware and got the cross streets displayed in the green banner functionality back.

I see that someone here with a 775 says they did.

...

Thanks. Will update tonight.

New Firmware for 7x5 series

Updated it. Neither of the issues concerning lane assist that I reported have been fixed. It has now been seven months since I reported the issues. But I'm not surprised. That's Garmin for you.

Cross streets in the green banner

I see that someone here with a 775 says they did.

Whoever said that might be mistaken.

I have 2 755T's and I can tell you that cross streets in the banner are definitely not back in the 4.4 Firmware update. When not navigating a route, the green banner still displays what road you are traveling on.

I can also say... I have updated both of our 755's with the latest firmware and both have been used heavily for the past several days without incident. One has 2012.4 and the other has 2012.3 (City Nav US & Canada)

Our 755's have different Rev motherboards and one used to crash and re-boot itself fairly often and it hasn't happened since the firmware update.

I agree

I upgraded one of my 765s (I have 2), and also have current maps on it and the cross street banner is definitely NOT back as it has started to show up on other units.

I will stay with the 765s anyway, as I use all of the features on it, like the MP3 capabilities, that have disappeared from newer models, but I really DO miss the cross streets.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up.

...

I'm not having any problem, either.

I see nothing here that states that.

So far so good

No issues here, all appears OK. I didn't do a hard reset this time...

After the Last FW update I had lockups until I did a reset.

i guess I misinterpreted your response above when someone asked if the cross street banner was back in place now and your reply was "Did the deed on my 775T"

Firmware update

Had to open my 755t and disconnect the battery to do a hard reset after the firmware install; everything works fine now. I don't know if I wasn't patient enough after the update; I waited more than 5 minutes before I opened the unit up.

So do you recommend updating or not?

I have a 765T -- should I make the plunge or stay away on this firmware update?

.

It works fine.

Work fine

So far with the update, No auto reboot. I'm crossing my fingers.

765 Update

I did the update to 4.40 just today.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'll report if I have any propblems.

thanks

Thanks for this post. I knew a second map could be added to the sd card on my 765t but I didn't know the file name..

765 Software Update

My daughter gave me her 765 to update and it has 2.90 on it.

I'm getting ready to update to 4.50 now.
