Getting through to Garmin is the problem, last time it took for ever to get someone to help. I may send an email, I think other users are having this same problem.

It would be a problem today as they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. They will be open tomorrow but since the new map update just came out you may have a bit of a wait to talk to someone. IMO, sending them an e-mail for a problem like your having may not be the best approach.

Be patient. You get that message cause there's a busy server. Too many people downloading at the same time.

I downloaded 3 update for my garmin units and all went well.

Is the computer awake?

I had this problem downloading maps to a Nuvi. Garmin support suggested I turn off the sleep function for both the computer and screen. (I have a Mac) Download completed without a hitch.

I updated my 2460 and 1450. All went well on my end, luckily

I had some difficulty with it recognizing my device

I unplugged the device and then it worked. I also had to cler some memory to fit the map, but as suggested in another thread, I deleted the voices I don't use and that did the trick. Good luck

Garmin updates get worse and

Garmin updates get worse and worse. Busy server is no excuse when it screws up not only the GPS but MapSource as well.

And with the lifetime of a given Garmin model being only 3 years, why bother with the extra cost of lifetimne map subscriptions?

The on-line support people can't answer any techncial questions, just look a the different answers people get and post about here on the same question.

Makes me scratch my head and wonder how they stay in business.

Maps 2012.40 Update Problems

I finally completed the installation of the new maps, by installing it on my GPS unit first and then installing it on my computer. It would not install on both at the same time. I’m not sure if this was the problem or I got lucky after 5 or 6 times. Garmin sure makes it difficult on something that should be very simple.

:)

glad you got it working

They have given me the busy server excuse before when I have called Garmin. This time the update went on fine but had to go through Dashboard to get it early.

Not on Computer

I don't bother putting the map on computer anymore, just a wast of time and space for me.

I've No Problem, So Far

by your reckoning, my 4YO Nuvi 750 with purchased lifetime maps must be on borrowed time, but just last week Garmin issued a software update, which I downloaded and installed without a hitch.

I must admit there is newer and more exciting Garmin product out there- but I can live with this baby for now.

My 2003 Quest should be a museum piece, but it's useful to me for its user's choice data fields- 8 of them! I've made it a permanent installation in our long distance travel vehicle.

I also stopped putting the maps on my pc, now I just d/l directly to my device since I pretty much do not use the pc for mapping .

Instaling Updates

Sometime it is a good idea to update the POI Loader and all the software assossiated with your device.

Getting larger and larger

The maps are getting larger and larger. Now I can't fit both the European and North America maps on the 770 I bought a few years ago. I had to put the European map on the sd card instead.

I have the 350

My only problem was space so I deleted all the languages that I did not need and it work ok.
Cheers neutral

try...

Try doing a fresh restall of the maps while at the same time saving your old maps to your PC.
