custom poi on garmin gps

I reviewed the tutorial on how to download cemetary poi to garmin gps. When it was completed, he showed how to access a certain cemetary. when he accessed it he pressed "GO" and the garmin proceeded to the site. I downloaded walmarts poi on my 2350 lmt garmin unit. I pressed "where to", pressed Extra, showed custom poi, selected a certain walmart store. That store was shown on the map but the "GO" icon was not on the map. Can anybody help with this? Is this normal? Maybe I didn't download poi correctly.

When you downloaded the

When you downloaded the Walmart fie. Did you name it Walmart.csv or did you name is something else?

Did

Did you install the POI file using Garmin's POIloader software? I suspect you must have if the store appears in Extra - Custom POIs but needed to ask as simply downloading the file to your GPS will not work. It needs to be downloaded to your computer and then installed on the Nuvi using POIloader.

If the file was loaded on the Nuvi correctly, selecting any of the listed stores should result in a map appearing which shows the stores location and a GO button in the lower right corner.

No I did not name the file Walmart.csv. How do you name the file, or how do you save it on computer.

Is there a numeral in your filename?

A missing "Go" has been reported when the filename contains a numeral. Can you check your computer folder that contains your downloaded or walmart csv or gpx file and see if the filename contains a numeral? More:

What is the filename of the downloaded file on your computer now?

I was thinking you may have put red light in the file name. If so the go to would not show. To rename just right click and you will see rename. See this FAQ to set up custom pois http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721

The walmart file has a number at the end of it. There is no green GO in this file. The other poi files have no numbers and they show GO icon. I'll re download and remove all numbers at the end of the files thanks

Thanks for all the

Thanks for all the information. I solved my problem with the "GO" issue. Do not put a number at the end of a poi file.

My "Redlight-Cameras.csv" POI shows the GO button.

Doesn't mean all of them do.

Doesn't mean all of them do. If you go to Garmin support and put the model in and search go to you will get the answer for a lot of the newer models that don't.

Why do I not have the option to press the go button on my device when viewing the details of a custom POI?

10/06/2010 If you have loaded any custom POI's that are speed or red-light cameras, you will notice that you will not receive an option to hit 'Go' to those locations.

This is designed to operate this way. The custom POI locations for such cameras will start with a number, and if it starts with a number, the software will read it as speed or red-light cameras.

Such locations would not be selected as destinations to travel, but just areas to be alerted of, which is the reasoning behind this design.

OK

I agree it is practically useless to have a GO for these. Seems Garmin does not believe in having standard functionality even for the silly stuff.

So that means

that if I buy a newer gps and want to name my file "Non chain pizza Redlight" it will not alert me?

I don't think I like that.

had a similar problem

I had a similar problem, but when I removed all the POIs from the device, and renames the csv file, it started working fine.
