Garmin talk

Our new 2689 has a higher resolution screen than the 660 does.
Therefore, the BMP files look physically smaller on the 2689 than 660...

Would like to remove all personal data from my Nuvi 3970 but I cannot follow the normal factory reset procedure as the touchscreen doesn't work.

Unit works otherwise. Connects to PC fine. Can run updates via Garmin Express, etc.

Is there anyway to reset it via my PC? Or what files can I safely delete to keep unit functional but erase my personal files?

In the past, I have usually used Map Updater and set the option to load on the Computer and Device. I also only loaded Canada and the lower 49 States.

I ran into a glitch, this time when the process froze at the stage prior to loading the maps onto the Device.

I know this is very basic, but I am new to posting and am not sure when to post using Create Content and when to post using Add New Comment. Also when should I use Reply and Quote.

I was playing around and somehow created a saved place.

This wasn't created via address, it was an in-advertand save from a callup from custom POI's browsing...

When I search saved places I see it as a separate entry, not among the Saved addresses....

I think it is possible to back up and then restore my destinations and favorites to a new Garmin unit.

Can someone point me to that procedure?

I have tried to delete a saved place several times. What happens is I delete the saved place and it is removed (verified) however when I turn the unit back on it is back.

I have a nuvi 2797LMT and would like to add proximity alerts to some of my saved places.
If that's possible, how do I go about it?
I have done it with custom poi's, but would like to add proximity alerts to saved places.

I just read the FAQ section and still uncertain and would like to know the following.

On my 255W I can make a "route" of 1000 miles from point A to point B and have it take every interstate or backroad I want by inserting multiple vias. I've always used this method as it's simple, 100% efficient & works for me.

I'm considering changing from a CSV format to GPX format for only one POI: Diner's Drive-ins & Dives... due to CSV POI hasn't been updated in quite a while....

Questions... Do I keep using the Audio WAV file, and BMP Icon, or is this part of the GPX as an 'all in one' file....

I have data for waypoints(Campground coordinates for the entire US)in a file, but I only want the listings for a specific state or area.

Can I import this data into Garmin Basecamp and then graphically identify campgrounds in a specified area and save to a folder.

I’m thinking of trying the product but at $99, it’s a lot to spend if there is little or no performance boost.

I just tried to install 2015.30 map update on my 1450LMT using Garmin Express and I got error message that my Garmin doesn't have enough space. Any suggestions?

Garmin has offered a "20" backup camera for some time coupled with a 7 inch GPS. That's too big for me but they recently started offering a "30" backup camera which their website indicates will work with their GPSs as small as 4.3 inch (specific models). Reviews I can find for the 20 camera are generally positive but nothing yet on the 30.

Looking for this prior to attempting a backup...

Open Garmin Express, then click in the TOOL in the upper right corner. Then ABOUT, then is your installed version and right click in CHECK FOR UPDATES TO EXPRESS.

I'm successful in converting MP3's to WAV's, and uploaded our favorite POI's in the new 2689...

In 660 I could could search for them and display them, select them, and have them become a destination.....

Can I do this on the 2689??? I can't seem to find them in the menus...

Has anybody ever seen any rugged cases for the Garmin Nuvi 3597? I know that there are cases for traveling like this http://tinyurl.com/k5gxzn4 , but I am interested in one that would protect the GPS and allow it to be used at the same time.
