Garmin express update fails

For the latest versions of Garmin Express none of the updates have installed for me. I was able to install 4.0.8 manually with this link http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/B/GarminExpressInstal.... I tried to update within 4.0.8 and again it would fail to update. I tried this link again and this time it installed 4.0.11 for me. Until somebody can figure out why the internal update does not work this method should keep us updated.

me too

For me, updates only work with the link. Update within Garmin Express always installs the same old version.

Every update has worked fine with internal update link

Every update for GE done from the settings check for update and then hit install has worked fine on my windows 7 32bit desktop. My computer is 100% updated with all OS updates done.

Just did the 4.0.11 update today from within the app and went off without a hitch.

Windows 7 64 bit

My PC is running Windows 7 x64 and is fully updated. Garmin Express will not update within the program.

Perhaps the difference is 32 bit or 64 bit?

GE updates are odd

My update attempts are also with Win7 x64 fully updated.

Until recently, the internal updater did not update my GE.

For the past couple/few updates, it does work for me now. Nothing's changed on my end that I know of that started it working in the past month or so.

update

im running windows 8.1 64 bit and my GE updated just fine from within the GE update program.

I have just updated GE

I have just updated GE 4.0.11.0 without a problem. Windows 7 64 bit.

Perhaps you have been hitting the wrong update button. I was.
When I launched GE I would get a page that had a check for updates button. That only checks for updates to your device.

To check for updates to GE you have to select the gear symbol in the top right corner. That sends you to another page, at the bottom of which you can select the correct button for updating GE.

Yet another way that Garmin confused me. smile

Update now works

Last week when Garmin Express was v 4.0.8.0, on going into settings (gear icon) it said that an update was available to 4.0.11.0. Clicked to update and the entire update process went without a hitch. At the end a box said that the update to 4.0.11.0 had been installed properly.

Ran Garmin Express and saw that new graphics indicated that an update had actually been installed. Checked settings and it said that the version was the same old 4.0.8.0. This was done at least 3 times on different days.

Went to the link to the Garmin website to download Garmin Express v 4.0.11.0. The same thing as above happened. "4.0.11.0 had been updated properly." When settings was checked it was 4.0.8.0. Tried the same thing again - no good.

Yesterday updated again from within settings. This time 4.0.11.0 was really installed and indicated that in the settings. The problem was fixed.

Running Windows 7 x64 fully updated including all versions of .net Framework and ant drivers. PC is in top shape.

It may be that all of my updates to 4.0.11.0 were successful as shown by the new graphics, but the only bug was the incorrect version of 4.0.8.0 being displayed in settings.

Anyway it is now fixed. Tomorrow will be the next bug created by Garmin. Why don't they want my beta test reports? Or are they listening as we speak?
