Garmin talk

I just started using my Nuvi 755T and am new to GPS in general. After loading the latest software to include the ecoRoute function, the map now seems to refresh my position only every 10 seconds. I didn't notice any such lag with the previous software version. What am I missing?

I just got this Nuvi 260W at Costco and I am trying to register it to download the 2009.1 update. The plugin is installed OK, but it just sits there and does nothing after entering my serial number. It does not find the NUVI. It is there because I can see it in my-computer as a drive letter.

but how do I find the airfields in NY? Couldn't figure out how to access them...

Lately it seems that theft is increasing every where. My Garmin was stolen from my own home garage in the afternoon a few days ago. It was fortunate only the GPS but now I have to close the garage at all time.

My 765 died this morning. When I connected it to the cradle, it tried to pair with my phone and got turned off. So far I have no luck to turn it back on.
I will appreciate any advice.

As I was looking this evening at the Garmin Nuvifones http://www.garminasus.com/garminasu...lang/en/welcome and they are starting to show up on websites even thought they are not available yet. I was wondering if we might ever see a ruggedized, water resistant GPS smartphone.

I am new at this and am trying to download a file to my Nuvi760. I do not know how to open the file after downloading it? I have installoed poi loader. Can someone help me?

Does anybody know how big the Save Location is for a 255W? I went 2.4 miles from my house and thought I was pretty save. I locked the GPS and drove home. In the driveway I could unlock it. Any thoughts?

Just for fun, let’s assume that you won first prize in some mythical contest and it turned out to be any automotive GPS under $1,000. Which would you choose?

I'm probably missing something, but struggling to figure out how I can use custom POI files for trip planning.

Background: I'm on a Macintosh and have RouteBuddy and Garmin's RoadTrip and POI loader. My Garmin is a StreetPilot (7200) with 8g memory card.

Some things I'd think might work don't..others do when I work with downloaded POI files from the POI Factory.

I think I need to break this out into it's own thread instead of Aarrgghhs thread.

Also there are menu items for PNG->aSRF and aSRF to PNG conversion..

When I first got my Nuvi 775T I was able to get a signal right way, even inside the house. Now however, after several weeks of usage, it can take up to five minutes to acquire a signal, sometimes longer (same locations). What's changed?

Garmin is introducing a new line of Nuvi's which will be available in May.

I notice that when I insert an SD card with POI files on it into my Nuvi 350 it asks if I wish to download (upload?) to my GPS unit. I did this with a few files and they show up as expected. I then took the card out of the unit and deleted the GARMIN folder on it and ran POI Loader with some other POI files.

Wanted to drop a line to all of you who "put up with me" while I was wavering over which gps to buy... all of you gave me a real education and I appreciate it.. anyway thanks again for all your input as I finally got off my duff and ordered my gps last night... went with the 755T..

You know that feature in some Garmin GPS receivers that drops "bread crumbs" on the road to mark where you have been? What does Garmin call that feature?

I am trying to find a Garmin GPS that has that feature, but I don't know what to look for in the GPS specifications.

Apparently Garmin is really upping the ante regarding their annual map offerings, I don't know if this applies to the incremental updates for you lifetime subscribers: (The following was copied from Garmin's website)

My first "Alert POI". I know I have to set the proximity alarm to "ON". Found something else on my GPS (danish lang.!). I am not sure thats the one I am looking for... Where do I find it?
