Nuvi 755T Slow Map Response

I just started using my Nuvi 755T and am new to GPS in general. After loading the latest software to include the ecoRoute function, the map now seems to refresh my position only every 10 seconds. I didn't notice any such lag with the previous software version. What am I missing?

EcoRoute

There has been a lot of discussion over ecoRoute and what it does and doesn't do. The general consensus is it is and was a marketing gimmick that wasn't ready for prime time. Many of those upgrading their units to have ecoRoute have downgraded for some of the same reasons you are noticing - slow response. Other issues are significant changes in routing.

EcoRoute is set to seek roads where a speed of 40-50 miles per hour can be used. If there is a limited access highway with a speed over 50, the ecoRoute will not use it and favor surface streets where a maximum speed is 50 or lower. This change, and the extra processing the unit has to do to calculate your "mileage" over tax the processor so it cannot keep the map refreshed.

The general remedy is to call Garmin and get the instructions on how to remove that update and revert to the latest without ecoRoute.

Sometimes updates do more harm than good.

I love ecoroute.

I love ecoroute. Not for the routing, which is a gimmick, but for the logging feature. Every trip gets logged to a CSV file with date, start time, start location and destination locations (lat/long as well as English descriptions) and distance. It's brilliant for anyone who submits expense reports for miles driven.

I AGREE

I use Eco Route for the same function. Don't know why but I have not noticed the rewrite issues that some have. Having the log file saves me an hour of work a week logging stops and miles
