Longer and Longer to acquire signal

When I first got my Nuvi 775T I was able to get a signal right way, even inside the house. Now however, after several weeks of usage, it can take up to five minutes to acquire a signal, sometimes longer (same locations). What's changed?

Trip log loads before it finds the signal?
It loads the trip logs from previous trips before the unit finds the signal? That seems like a serious mistake from the design standpoint.
What advantage might it have for the device to do things in that order on boot up?

And it indexes all the MP3 files as well.
Doing "housekeeping" first is a good trait - normally. But when you have limited processor power and memory it becomes a burden rather quickly. I don't have those problems with my Nuvi 200.
