Alfred Security Camera App
If you get bored and want something to do. You can make a security camera on the cheap. Download the Android App Alfred Security Camera app. Pull out one of the many old smartphones you stored away. Install the app. One phone will be the camera and your PC or another Smartphone will be the viewer. It does have some nice features in the settings.

Is Anybody Here Using An Old Smartphone Like A Traditional GPS On The Dash?
As posted above, I am just wondering if anybody here is using an old smartphone or tablet and just leaving it in a mount on their dash for GPS only purposes? Obviously, I could do that with my current smartphone, but I really like having the ability to see the screen continuously while driving and navigating. If my main phone receives a call, and I answer it, I can no longer see the screen.

Is Anybody Here Using A Tablet For Navigation?
As posted above, I am just wondering if anybody here is using a tablet for navigation. If so, do you have a mount for it? If you do, what mount do you have and would you recommend it?

iOS 12.1.2 Released For iPhones BUT
As the title says, iOS 12.1.2 has been released for iPhones (not iPads), BUT there are a lot of comments on the web that it may cause problems.
It is probably prudent to wait for 12.1.3 unless you have a pressing problem with 12.1.1 that you think 12.1.2 may correct.

Waze, Bluetooth and tunnels
I keep seeing a prompt on Waze suggesting that I turn on Bluetooth on my smartphone when I travel to the Boston airport, a route which goes thru several tunnels. I had not turned on Bluetooth until last night when I made the trip again. Per the article, posted summer of last year, Waze has installed beacons which permit its app to know your precise location when underground.

IOS 12.1.1 Released
Yup, iOS 12.1.1 has been released. Downloaded to my 9.7 inch iPad Pro and to my iPhone 8+ with no noticeable problems.
Even though it is only a .1.1 release, it has one big addition in my eyes - it finally enables the ECG app on my Series 4 Apple Watch.

Garmin StreetPilot Onboard With Apple iPad And iPhone
One of the reasons that I bought an Android tablet years ago was because they were less expensive than iPads and many/most of the wifi Android tablets had GPS in them. That allowed me to use the Android Garmin StreetPilot Onboard app without needing data.
More recently, the Android Garmin StreetPilot Onboard app is gone, but the iOS Garmin StreetPilot Onboard still appears to be available.

SmartPhone And Smartwatch GPS Application
Will the Garmin or other smartwatches navigate, without a data plan, on their own, without being tethered to a smartphone? Do most have the means to add a micro SD card for additional memory?

What Are The Best Things You Can Do With Your Smartphone or Tablet Without Data?
As posted above, I am wondering what some of the best things are that you can do with your phone when you don't have data. I started a thread in the travel story sub-forum, but for this I will focus on the actual apps, etc. Here are a few things to start with:
-Take photographs.
-Listen to music stored on the smartphone.

Possible to load Redlight and Speed camera POIs on an Android Auto smartphone app?
Does anyone know of a way to load the Redlight Cameras POI files on an Android Auto compatible smartphone map app e.g. Google Maps, Waze etc?
If so, pointers to the app and instructions on how to load the POI data would be appreciated.
Thanks.

How to transfer pics/vids wirelessly from DashCam 55 to Android smartphone w/VIRB app?
Hello kind Gurus,
Just wondering if there's a way (besides using the supplied USB cable) to wirelessly transfer specific stills and videos from my DashCam 55 to my Android 7.0 smartphone, using the Android VIRB app? I would be interested in "Saved Photos" "Travelapse Vids" and "Saved Videos". For "on scene" evidenciary purposes.

Edge Browser
I final switched over from Chrome to the Edge Browser. Once they got it so you can used it on your Android tablets and phones I made the change. Syncing across devices seem to be working well. Still not a lot of extensions available, but more then in the past. One problem found so far. Here on POI Factory when I post a link it is not highlighted.

4 inch phones that are not an iPhone SE
I like small form factor smartphones. I already have an iPhone SE. I hope Apple will release a refresh in a similar for factor. I've also been wanting to transition to Android, but I can't find any premium end phones in a small form factor.
Any recommendations?

Waze "Jumping & Spinning" while CoPilot Does Not
Hello All,
It's been quite a while since I've been active on POI Factory but I'm back again with a problem. Although I still use Garmin devices I have grown to love Waze, particularly for urban driving, as it seems to be really good at helping you to avoid traffic jams, accidents, and the local constabulary.

DIY car navigation
Not happy with your vehicle Nav system? No problem
WeatherTech CupFone
I just saw a commercial on TV for the WeatherTech CupFone. I have been dragging my feet getting a smartphone holder for our vehicles. Frankly, most of them don't look that good to me. This one looks interesting, though.
