iOS 12.1.2 Released For iPhones BUT

As the title says, iOS 12.1.2 has been released for iPhones (not iPads), BUT there are a lot of comments on the web that it may cause problems.

It is probably prudent to wait for 12.1.3 unless you have a pressing problem with 12.1.1 that you think 12.1.2 may correct.

What 12.1.2 is

I haven't done it yet because I usually wait to see if there are any issues.

1. Fixes bugs with esim activation for XR, XS, and XS Max.
2. Addresses an issue that could affect cellular connectivity in Turkey for XR, XS, and XS Max.

So, for those that haven't spent the $1000 to get the latest cell phone it doesn't help you.

Doesn't affect me

My newest iPhone is a 6s, only use it for making calls, the odd text message and Whatsapp to communicate.
So in other words for me a phone is a phone and not a drag around computer substitute.

Updated

Didn't have any trouble and everything seems to be working fine.

iPhone XS Max

...most issues are overblown...

Remember, squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Given the amount of these phones or devices running iOS are in the wild, the county are aberrations to the general trend.

Then again, short of some of the makeup of some patches that relate to security fixes, you can wait till a more general release.

It's the same with the produce recalls, <100 people get sick out of potentially 315m, we trash the national produce supply.

Installed

On my 6sPlus and all is OK

I didn’t have any issues

I didn’t have any issues with it

Apple issued an updated

Apple issued an updated build, 3 days after the initial release. Apple still hasn't acknowledged the problems with the original, nor have the said that the newer build will fix the problem.

That said, I installed the newer version, only. No problems at all.

Good Info.

I just bought an iPhone XS and was about to update to 12.1.2. I think I'll wait awhile.
Thanks for posting.

my 64gb XS was $249.99 from verizon. It was 3 days before Thanksgiving. My relatives got theirs free, but they had to come from ATT, it was not good for current Verizon customers. BOGO.

since I got the XS, I updated to .1 and then .2. Don't see any difference. I actually can't stand the phone and only use it for calls, still use my S8 for apps lol

Nobody thinks it's strange--they assume one is for work, and the other personal. My wife thinks I'm a dork, and she's not wrong.

Thanks for the information

Thanks for your input. Based on your observations as well as others, I'll go ahead with the upgrade.

I traded my iPhone 7+ for the XS and I agree about the new phone being somewhat awkward to use. There are many differences and a lot of old habits to break. Since I don't have another phone to use, I'll either get used to the XS or trade it for something else.

Again, no problems with the dot release.

My hunch all this time has been Apple has superior hardware, for a steep premium. I got my S8 new, and in 11 mos., was on my 3rd (2 warranty replacements). It's tough to say that #2 was also defective from factory, because these are certified refurbs--they can literally be a return under the 14 day thing, so problem from original owner passed on to warranty replacement owner? But my new in box S8 had a screen burn in where all the icons were visible on the screen.

to my disappointment, when the XS didn't wow me in the screen dept., I found that the S8 has superior specs? Maybe that's why it burns in, and Apple does not seem to, maybe Samsung is pushing the OLED. Of course Verizon says, "That's strange, never heard of that." But google it!

So I like to tell myself well Apple has better hardware and I'll just get used to iOS one day. App for app, side by side, it seems to be lacking...There are so many youtubes where the 2 OS are compared to one another and the conclusions seem to be all the same...but I had to pull the trigger based on the $750 off deal...just seemed like a no-brainer.

p.s. if anybody knows of a wifi analyzer on iOS, please let me know. I could find zero that would work to analyze 2.4 v. 5g, strentgh, etc. for android there are a handful for free....

Installed on iPhone 7

No issues that I can see.
