How do I load POI files onto an Android phone ?

I have a Samsung Moment running Android 2.1. I now use this in place of my Nuvi 350. I find it a far better solution for me. I NEVER use the visual maps on the GPSr or the phone, only the text to speech. Since the only thing I miss is the red light camera warnings I am wondering is there way to load the POI file to the phone?

iPhone 4 as GPSr

Today's announcement of the iPhone 4 brings more incentive to use it as your automotive GPSr. It's high resolution screen make it more usuable. More resolution means you can display more data legibly. It will be interesting to see how the developers learn to take advantage of the new screen.

Update After Using Google Satellite Nav on the Motorola Droid

Well I can update info on the Google Sat Nav on the Motorola Droid. My wife and I just returned from a trip to Florida. Now first I love the Motorola Droid phone from Verizon. It is a great smart phone and I would get another one with no problem. I had posted some info on the Google Sat Nav back in Nov 2009. Now note the Google Sat Nav is in Beta and is not the final product.

Help: Converting iPhone Geotag coordinates???

Hi All,

My iPhone geotags the photos I take and is giving me the longitude and latitude in this format:
exif:GPSLatitude 37,20.31N
exif:GPSLongitude 121,57.02W

How do I convert these coordinated to the format used on my Nuvi 670 & 880?
Specifically longitude -XXX.XXXXX and latitude XX.XXXXX.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Tailspin

GPS cell phone apps challenge standalone devices

I just read the following article.

http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20091128/ap_on_hi_te/us_tec_na...

I was wondering how this would affect Garmin, etc. when I saw in the news that Google was giving directions for free on the Android.
It strikes me that the stand alone makers are going to have to convince the average user that their device is much better than using your phone. As mentioned in the article, extra features might be the answer, but it just might mean that the stand alone device will only be bought by folks that need those extra features.
I probably would still purchase a Garmin, but the allure of one device that does it all (like Tolken's ring) is very appealing.
