Gokivo for iPhone

An application called Gokivo is available for iPhone. The app is 99 cents and links to Yahoo local info and maps. If you want full GPS navigation you must pay $10 a month's worth of access to the maps, directions, and traffic info. The maps do not reside on the iPhone so you are at the mercy of your network connection for screen refreshes.

IPhone GPS

i have an iphone with a gps app. i used it the other day and it is realy very useful. you press to find your current location (even indoors) and then type in a store name (or anything) and a few seconds later several pins will drop down on the map with the various store locations (some even have a photo of the place)
now i wish that they had turn by turn voice instruction for routing

Topographic Maps for iPhone

An application for GPS enabled iPhone's (currently the 3G model) offers US Geologic Survey (USGS) survey maps superimposed with your location. The application is $10 and covers the USA. It looks like you cannot zoom in on the maps or use it for wilderness travel. Because the maps are residing in the phone you do not need a network connection.

iPhone to become real GPSr

The announcement today of the iPhone 3.0 operating system revealed that the iPhone will have the capability to do turn-by-turn navigation. Apple showed screen shots of how it could look. Developers will need to supply their own maps which will add to the cost and size of any navigation applications. The software will be released in the summer.

Apple Looking For iPhone GPS Engineer

http://www.gpsreview.net/apple-looking-for-iphone-gps-engine...

It shows that Apple may be working on big time GPS solutions for iPhone.

I'm wondering when and if they institute it if it will be available for iPod Touch also.

IMO iPhone is somewhat crippled by only being available on AT&T.

Garmin Cellphone Strategy Broader Than Expected

Seems Garmin is going to push the nuvifone and later Android based phones in a big way.

This scares me a little, as there is already so much competition in the cellphone market.

Select the Find current location icon (circle in the lower left corner);

Is anyone planning on trying the new iPhone that's slated for this month? Supposedly it has a built in GPSr.

iphone 3G with built in GPS chip!

Not sure if you guys caught the Apple announcement yesterday but apparently the new iphone 3G is going to come with a real GPS chip built in, not cell phone tower triangulation.

The thought of having just one device to carry is a dream and maybe the iphone 3G will be the answer to that wish. Thought I would start this thread to collect information.

RUMOR - iPhone to get GPS?

http://gizmodo.com/378648/iphone-to-support-gps-stereo-bluet...

Apparently someone was combing through the firmware code and found "RoleGPS" which some are saying may indicate future GPS support.

Let's hope this is true. - but for know it's just rumor.

iPhone Navigation

I've got a friend who just got an iPhone and he tells me that he's got navigation on it. Does anyone have an iPhone that can verify? If so, how does it compare to a Garmin or other? Can anyone shed any light?
