querying "custom POIs"

Good day. I installed a car dealership ".csv" from my iMac to my Nuvi250. I finally figured how to find them and they come up in a list from closest to furthest from my home location.

If I install the RestAreas.csv will the two lists be intermingled in my custom POIs listing or is there a way to separate them from each other?

Where do I get a POI Loader for Garmin Nuvi 650

Hello all,

I am looking for the POI Loader for the Garmin Nuvi 650 that I just purchased. When I check Garmin's website, I don't see any downloads available under the 650 section.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Ed

Mac nuvi software

A few weeks ago before I got my nuvi 250W, I downloaded a software package that would manage my nuvi all in one app. This included a 1-click backup option. Now I can't find the app. Does anybody know of such an app or was I hallucinating.

Little "mac" activity on this forum

With the tremendous increase in the number of Apple (Mac's) that have been sold recently I would hope that the level of activity in this forum would also increase.

When I look at the "last activity/reply" many of them are very "stale", i.e., no replies in many weeks.

New Garmin WebUpdater 2.0.2 For Mac Is Avaialble

Maybe you already knew, but in case you didn't, the new version of WebUdater, Garmin WebUpdater 2.0.2, for the Macintosh is available. Although some folks have had a problem installing it, I had no problems with my nuvi 350.

Help for a newbie

I have downloaded the beta version of the Garmin POI Loader for my nuvi 650. I have copied POI files into a custom POI folder on my Mac. I have dowloaded to the Garmin. After the dowload, the loader says it was a success, but the POIs do not show up on the Extras. Where are they going?

Magellan 3225 and my mac

So i just bought the Magellan 3225 and I realize that its not supposed to work with macs out of the box, but i noticed when i plugged it into my PC, it treated it like a disc, on my mac it does nothing. Thoughts on perhaps getting it to recognize it on my mac?

Zumo 550 and mp3 music

So I tried to drag and drop about 100 songs onto my zumo and they did not show up. So then I opened up the file and started to move the songs individually. This worked fine until I got to about 75 songs and then it would not take any more even though I had 1.5G of space left. Anyone have a suggestion on how I can add more? I must be doing something wrong? Thank you for your time

Zumo 550 and POI loading

I have a MAC G4 and used the Garmin POI loader and loaded the Combined Rest Areas and the HD dealer POI on my 550. When I did this were the alerts loaded at the same time? My Mac does not give me any screen that talks about alert distances. I know the locations are loaded because I can see them in the Extras but I do not know about the alerts.

How to get and install Nuvi 6XX v4.20 on a Mac

Mac users may have discovered that the Mac WebUpdater does not work with the latest firmware update. Thanks to work by tailspin and a happy accident I found a way to install the update.

First you need two pieces of free software:

Installing Tour Guides

Learned something new yesterday that I thought I would pass on. It pertains loading Tour Guides on your GPSr. Those of you that are old hands at this can skip this message. For the rest, just make sure you have a GPSr that can handle the Tour Guide files.

Garmin and Mac 10.5 Leopard experiences

I have tried my nuvi with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and the Garmin software. Everything has worked just as it had under Tiger 10.4. The nuvi mounts after about 30 seconds (this longer mount time began after the latest firmware update). The POI Loader and the WebUpdater work just fine.

If you are having other experiences please describe in this thread.

Macintosh and Parallels woes

No doubt you have read the tales of woe regarding Parallels recent modification of the USB drivers so the Garmin Nuvi units (and I presume others) no longer connect to the virtual machines "Macworld December 2007 p 22". The Garmin units do connect to the native OS X environment (in my case OS X10.5 Leopard).

POI Loader for the Mac 2.0.2.1 beta feedback...

Hi All fellow Mac users,

I'm happy to report that the Mac version of the POI Loader (2.0.2.1 beta) works great. I've even assigned .mp3 files that play, when the distance alert set, using the POI Loader, is reached. Of course the associated .mp3 file has to have the same name of the POI file.

I have one for the Apple Stores .csv that plays...
"There's an Apple store in the neighborhood".

POI Loader for Mac 2.0.2.1 beta experiences

This thread is to see if other Mac users are having success with the POI Loader 2.0.2.1 released last week.

It has been working great for me.

It has been nice to finally get a POI Loader on par with the PC version.

Let's hear your problems or praises...

POI Loader Beta for Mac is a non-starter

Versiontracker.com lists a beta version of POI Loader for Mac that promises a more PC-equivalent version. I downloaded it but it crashed on launch for me. I'd like to hear if anyone else has any luck.

The app can be downloaded from

Getting Started Making POIs On A Mac

Hey everyone,

I just ordered my first GPS today and am eagerly awaiting it's delivery. I'm interested in making a POI file for ski resorts using data that I have in google earth. The instructions I found on this site use an editor that is not compatible with OS X. What options do I have?

Great site, I can't wait to contribute some POIs.

Best,

Rich
