POI projects

Please forgive me if I've erred in posting this here. I've searched and not found the answer.

In this file,( http://www.poi-factory.com/node/2941 ) there is no listing for Nelsons Speedshop in Greenville, MI ( http://www.nelsonsspeedshop.com/ ) This is where I bought my Yamaha Grizzly 2 years ago. They are still in business today.

I've got a couple of TourGuide Custom POI files in development, RT-66 and the Pony Express Ride.

I've gathered photos for 80% of the Pony Express TourGuide and the generated gpi file is about 6MB. It includes one 320x280 image and a description of each of the 93 locations of Pony Express markers, plaques and museums.

Anyone knows if exist a poi file that include toll highways.
My interesting zone is New England.

I try to load excel sheet which is having Macro using HSSF libraries. Once load the worksheet I am updating some data into rows and columns. It works fine.

When I remove a row from the spreadsheet using Apache POI Library the cell values in the row get clear and the row still exist with empty cells.

Anybody help me to delete rows from worksheet using Apache POI library.

I am new to poi collecting and publishing, and have some questions about the two main poi file formats: .csv and .gpx. I have learned that Garmin can read both .csv and .gpx file while TomTom requires .ov2 format.

What about navigoators from other manufacturers (Navman, Mio, Magellan, etc.) and GPS enabled mobile phones (Nokia, iPhone, etc.)? Do they all read .csv or .gpx files?

Our dear friend Aophiuchus let me know last week that he will not be able to manage updates to files anymore.

I will need a few dedicated General Maintainers to take over the following projects. Mahoney, you are not allowed to raise your hand.

Aophiuchus has given this community so much of his time and energy, he deserves to step down from these projects and pass the torch to others.

I have tried a couple of times to update the FL Birding Trail - Panhandle GPX file but it doesn't seem to show up in the POI file section. I added some species lists to the comments section and a link where a hard copy of the guide could be ordered free. I can't quite figure out why it doesn't show up.

POI family -

I'm working on the final touches of a POI file of all the National Wildlife Refuges. I e-mailed the US Fish and Wildlife Service and was sent a complete spreadsheet of all NWR locations.

Just hoping to eliminate duplicate work ... nobody has mentioned making one of these, so I hope that no one has started this project yet!

How about a POI for Maid Rites (loose meat sandwiches). These are popular around Iowa.

My wife does not like Slurpees from 7-11 (she's nuts) and doesn't like Mr. Misty's from DQ or Slush Puppies. Would love a POI with locations of where Icee's can be purchased.

Supposed to be one of the top pizza chains. Would love a national store list. Always looking for a cheap way to feed a family of 5. $5. Pizza! Pizza!

I was wondering if it is possible to add icons to my POI's so that the icon will become visible as you are driving toward a POI. If anyone has any help on this topic it's greatly appreciated. I've searched the icon library and several common poi files but don't see how the link is made between the poi file and the icon.

There is a revision in the 7-eleven in us file that I would like to submit but I dont know who to talk to or how to do it. I searched the faq and didnt find anything. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I noticed that the Albertsons POI file hasn't been updated in about 4 months (since april 24).

There doesnt appear to be a link to an 'official' forum topic for the file....

There's for sure 1 location that's waaay off, the one closest to my place, that i'm at nearly every day.

So whats the proper way of submiting a correction?

I'd be interested in developing a big rig, short term boondocking POI. My proposal would be that it be a restricted file for those that only contributed to the creation of this POI. Myself, I have found many that would accommodate me and I'm pulling a toad with a 40' MH.

What does everyone think about doing a Boundary Waters campsite POI? Or is that already part of one of the topo maps. Sorry for the ignorance as I just got me new etrex.

I would like to find a way where people can add info like the above to an open spreadsheet form for different poi's
maybe they have it already and i cant find it.

On a Garmin you can set a speed POI with a proximity setting. E.G.: Set a 2 km proximity for a 100 km/hour speed warning.

In use, the GPS will 'double boing' when you are within the incoming 2 km POI proximity zone *IF* you are at 10 km/hr under the limit (in this example at 90 kmh). Then it will 'chime' as you exceed the set limit (in this example at 100 kmh).
