Adding POI Icons that show up on Map

I was wondering if it is possible to add icons to my POI's so that the icon will become visible as you are driving toward a POI. If anyone has any help on this topic it's greatly appreciated. I've searched the icon library and several common poi files but don't see how the link is made between the poi file and the icon.

You have to zoom the map to about 200ft to see the icons.

You may also want to read through:

You cannot add icons for the built-in POI's. You can only associate an Icon for the custom POI's that you add via files downloaded from here, or files you create.

Then you will have to zoom in to less than 300' to see them.

custom poi icons

Thanks for both your replies. I did finally find the directions and FAQ at the bottom of the icons page (sure would be easier to find if they were at the top). I didn't use the Garmin POI Loader to download the icon though it does show it is on the Nuvi drive in the same file with the poi data file. I'll go test it again and see if it shows up if I zoom in to 300' or less. If that doesn't work, I'll try reloading it with the POI Loader. Would be way cool if I can get this to work.

Thanks.

Custom POI icons--oops...correction

(Nevermind...I just looked at the site again and found the icon listed as an attachment, rather than as an icon, probably because I requested that it not be added to the icon library. Thanks!)

I created a custom poi icon to go with my finding jersey fresh farm markets poi file and sent it to the email address listed in the directions/faq on the icon library page. Who, how, when does that icon link get attached to my poi page? It has been 3 or 4 days now since I sent the icon bmp file.

Just curious. I've been promoting it to some friends to get it tested, but don't want to publicize far and wide until it's ready to go... and it's much cooler to have a little jersey fresh logo pop up when passing a farm market than a gray dot.

Thanks!
