[Schaumburg, IL] Red-light camera loses backer
Village may dump device after seeing no reduction in accidents
Bucking a national trend of putting in cameras to catch red-light runners, northwest suburban Schaumburg may get rid of its only red-light camera system because it doesn't do enough to prevent accidents.
"I think the camera should go," said Schaumburg Village President Al Larson. "It wasn't doing what it was supposed to do."

AZ City to reimburse 1,063 cited by faulty red light camera
Wonder how this got caught. If it had not been caught, many drivers would have paid for an illegitimate fine.

Paradise Valley plans to refund a total of $36,000 to more than 1,000 drivers who received tickets for running a faulty traffic light at Tatum Boulevard and McDonald Drive.

A police officer's perspective on red light cameras
One interesting point I extrapolated from the below article was that as a consequence of fewer traffic stops due to red light running, it would be somewhat easier to get away with DUI.

speed cameras on I-5 in Washington State?
I was driving south on I-5 this weekend. When I was about to enter a construction area I saw a sign saying that the speed limit was camera enforced. I did not see any camera, but I did not know they were doing this in Washington. Anyone have any information on this?

I just received a "red light" ticket
I received in the mail a ticket from a Las Cruces, NM red light camera. I didn't run the light, but it caught me speeding. The ticket is for going 45 in a 35 zone. The picture only shows my license plate and nothing else. There is no way to see who the driver is. It gave a link to go online and view the incident.

Everett, WA to install cameras
LOCAL NEWS - EVERETT -- Add Everett to the list of cities turning to video cameras to enforce traffic safety laws.
Later this summer, cameras will be installed at four accident-prone intersections and one school zone in Everett, issuing tickets starting at $124 each.

I got this information in an e-mail and have not been able to verify it as of now. Here's a link to IL State Law in regards to work zones and I don't see this so I don't really know.

AZ bill to make photo camera tickets counts as points in driver licenses

A bill advancing in the Legislature would mean that speeding violations captured by state photo enforcement cameras would be reported for possible action against the violator's drivers license.

removing a red light camera
how do we go about reporting a removal of a red light camera. i am asking b/c there is a red light camera on my unit were one dose not really exist or really needs to be filed under something else. the spot im talking about is near the intersection of rock hill rd and Lockwood in Webster groves Missouri it is not even in a intersection for one and for 2 its a video taped railroad crossing.

Jacksonville Florida RLC
Just a note: Went by three places were it says there are RLC's, but could not see any there. I heard they are planning on putting them in, but don't think they are there yet. Guess I'd rather have it early an be on the look out.
Orange Park is getting 3 RLC (have the article if anyone interested). I'll keep a look out and when they are being installed I'll report them to POI Factory.

Suffolk COunty Long Island NY anounces new red light cameras!!!!
it official (not that they were going to shoot the bill down) but legislators voted unanimously to install almost 138 new red light cameras in what they call "dangerous intersections" they will put up 50 cameras this year and finish all of them by late 2010. no list published of the intersections yet. keep your eyes open for a poi file update when the list comes out.
What is and what is NOT a red light camera
I'm a new member and I've just downloaded the red light camera list. For all of you who put work into this list my thanks.
HOWEVER, it seems some folks do not understand the difference between a red light camera and a ES (emergency services) vehicle identifying camera. I found two false alerts in my neighborhood, and I was bonked by another this weekend downtown.
