Traffic Camera Story

A man was driving when he saw the flash of a traffic camera. He
figured that his picture had been taken for exceeding the limit, even
though he knew that he was not speeding...
Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same
spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. Now he began to think that this was quite funny, so he drove even slower as he passed the area again, but the traffic
camera again flashed.
He tried a fourth time with the same result.
He did this a fifth time and was now laughing when the camera
flashed as he rolled past, this time at a snail's pace...

Two weeks later, he got five tickets in the mail for driving
without a seat belt.

another story, true this time

That is a funny story, but not true. I have one that is just as funny and absolutely true. This happened when the speed cameras were just starting to be placed in fixed locations. In my area they used the mobile vans for a while, then started attaching the speed cameras to stationary poles. Anyway, a certain police officer who will remain nameless had not yet heard of the cameras and drove by one at night and saw all the flashes. He thought someone was screwing with him so he turned around and came back looking for who was trying to blind him. He got "flashed" again. Now really mad, he turned around again and flew back down the road looking yet again and got "flashed" for the third time. He did not figure out what was going on until a few weeks later he got called in by his supervisor asking why he got all those speed tickets.

Not a red light camera

A friend was stopped when he passed through a green light followed a short distance by a second set of lights which had turned red about the time he was passing through the first set of lights. The officer was very polite and did not sight him for the violation of the 2nd light. He agreed the poor timing of the second light posed a problem for many motorists, but the city sets the timing, he just enforces the law. He then asked if he was wearing a seat belt. My friend responded no, I rarely use them. The officer asked why not, and my friend replied it rubs against his neck. The officer said he will have to site him for not using the seat belt. The officer went to his patrol car and returned in a few minutes. He noticed my friend's license plate tags were out of date by two days, as my friend just had a birthday. The officer said he was not going to site him for the tags, and only give a warning for them and the red light. The fine for the not using seat belts was $81.00. The above story remindedme of the seatbelt ticket.

$81. is stiff for a seatbelt ticket.

Its $25 bucks and no points in Maryland. Though we do have the "click it or ticket" campaign during April and May where every Police Officer in the State is out hammering seat belt tickets.
