GM 8 speed transmission problems- read this if you have one

Last year my 2016 GMC Sierra had a terrible "shuddering" problem. When it first started it was very mild, almost like a wheel balance problem. One day though, it got so bad the truck was shuddering so bad that things were making noise in the console.

for the computer savvy (password managers)

What's the best safe way to store passwords?

My work uses LastPass--because it's work, I accept it and allow that system to have my passwords.

What about for home?

I used to use KeePass.

Belarc alternative for license keys

A while back in one of the threads, someone recommended a program to analyze Windows for all data including License Keys. Someone else also recommended Belarc which works fine - but Belarc doesn't return the license key for StopZilla, as an example.

I have done a search here, but can't find the thread with the name of the other program. Unfortunately, I deleted the downloaded file.

SOS from handheld device saves man from freezing to death in Boundary Waters

This was a great outcome for a situation that may have ended up very differently. I was slightly surprised that they mentioned the Garmin inReach by name, but I am glad they did. The BWCA is big country.

do you ever buy auto parts then have a shop install?

I like to DIY, but some things are not practical without a lift.

I was gonna change my wife's struts and shocks with my uncle, who has access to a lift. But with the pandemic etc.

It's a 2011 GM SUV, and I know the struts are not good OE, because one side was replaced under warranty (hahahahaha one side, common sense says to replace in pairs). Leaking in only 65k.

fun with tire pressures

My wife's car is a 2011 GM. It tells the driver what psi is on each tire.

Some background--my wife was able to go 4 years and 43k, without any issues such as punctures etc. Also, her 4 tires have the same PSI, unlike our other cars where the rear is higher than the front. So a visual check would be to see all 4 are equal.

This week we're recognizing, Mahoney!

Mahoney has been a member of POI Factory for over thirteen and a half years!

While he's "only" updated 13 POI files in the last week, and we did recognized him last April, I think most members would agree that six months is about the max we should go between Mahoney recognition's.
