Chatty Charley thread for the week of March 10th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

I hate Mondays

Especially after a time change. I was really enjoying getting to work after it was light. Now my entire commute was in the dark this morning.

Oh and did I mention that I hate Mondays?

Monday, Yuck...

So a star could be a general maintainer of the site. Like an admin or moderator with special privileges. At least it makes sense to me having such a large number of members.

Nothing like nursing a bad cold on a monday sad

My wife doesn't burn anything since I do the cooking. But it works out ok for us, I like to cook and she doesn't mind cleaning up (which I hate)

Corned beef

Keith, all you do is dial the local Jewish deli and order a corned beef on club, rye or whole wheat if you prefer and a Guinness to wash it down. Or if you like, you can substitute a Dr. Browns root beer! smile

On St. Paddy's Day even I'm IRISH! wink

I'd have to take my Nuvi on a day trip to find a Jewish deli smile But we do have a few places locally that make a fairly decent Reuben...

Gas

In the aftermath of the snowstorm here in ohio, we were rewarded with $3.30 gas prices and $3.99 diesel prices per gallon.I didn't know snow could make gas more valuable?.lol

It's that time of year

The supply of gas is a little tight as refineries switch from producing winter blends to summer blends, so the price goes up...should come back down a bit again as long as crude prices remain stable, or drop and get back under a Franklin/barrel.

I always check gasbuddy.com. That is the national site. I have the locals as wichitagasprices.com and kansasgasprices.com.

.

Here in the oil state of Texas (remember the Houston Oilers?) diesel is $3.80. Diesel is a byproduct of gasoline and needs less refining, so the higher price is a mystery. My Super Duty drinks $125 worth per fill-up. But we all are diesel buyers since it is used in producing and transporting food and other goods. Watch for inflation in almost everything. Well, maybe not GPS's (I hope) since they are easy to transport and are still evolving technology.

I Spoke To Soon..

Late last week I was mentioning to a group of friends at lunch that I had upgraded my outdoor spot lights to the newer fluorescent spots to both conserve energy and (most of all) so that I did not have to replace the bulbs every 6 months. The newer bulbs supposedly have 5 year lifespan. Yesterday, I noted that one of these bulbs had already gone out after only 3 months. I removed the bulb from the 2 bulb fixture and after about 60 seconds the second bulb also went out. It lasted only about 1 month. Now I'm thinking my plan wasn't so great after all... Wondering if anyone else might have had the same bad luck...

The idea of a POI Factory Cookbook could catch on and I wouldn't mind that Zuppa Toscana recipe myself.

Yeah that is one of my

Yeah that is one of my favorite soups, but sorta labor intensive...

1) cook meat, grind it down (cutting it)
2) wash kale
3) cut potatoes thin

Ok ok, not alot, but that is a lot of cutting.

I thought the judges were pretty harsh on Ramiele.

Even if the song performance wasn't so outstanding, her appearance and personality were! Just because the song wasn't "boisterous" didn't make it boring to me.

Maybe I'm partial to Filipinas, too, as I'm married to one.
