Just upgraded to a Garmin

Had been using an OLD Magellan Roadmate with 3+ year old maps. Decided it was time to enter the modern world and got a Garmin Nuvi 265WT. First time dealing with a GPS that has so many neat features. Learning something new every day.

Congrats!!!

Just love those Garmins... smile

Paul..... Nuvi 765T

Welcome

acumenhokie,

Welcome to the age of the GPS! I have a NUVI 200 and have been looking to upgrade to the 7XX series.
Much as with my iPod, I don't know how I got along without the technology I have gotten so reliant upon.

This is the site if you have questions about learning something new everyday. People here have been there and done that if it has anything to do with the GPS, and they are willing to share that knowledge.

I hope you enjoy your NUVI and it meets all of your needs, I am sure it will.

Congrats!!

You won't be sorry. I did it just over a year ago and have not had a single regret.

Garmin rules

I've got a TomTom on BlackFriday but after it advised me to go from NJ to NY via ALbany, i figured it's time to get the real deal - Garmin.
So many great stuff here. Hope to join poi-factory's great team.

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome everybody. I've spent most of my day at work today downloading your custom POI files. Even played around making a few of my own. Headed to San Fransisco for the first time in May so I went ahead and grabbed all the info on it. I'm loving this site!

Operator error I would think!

I Agree - Great Garmins!

I've had a couple of Garmins and they have satisfied my needs. I too keep finding new uses for them - some suggested by this wonderful web site!

I guess if you had bought maps for you Roadmate you might have been as happy as a lark. If you don't update the maps on your Garmin you won't be very happy again in three years, could be sooner if you get a maverick firmware update, so be aware and update your maps, and read read read before updating your firmware.

I buy used and older gps's
