You never know what you a sattelite photo will show

While scanning the Outer Banks of North Carolina, using Google Earth, I found two interesting objects.

This will give you something to do!

-75.495969,35.738305
-75.488737,35.737420

2 needles in a haystack - I mean ocean.

Edit:
I put the l/l like Garmin POI. For Google Earth it's really:

35.738305,-75.495969
35.737420,-75.488737

Sorry about that.

thanks for the tip - it was fun to find them. Google Earth wants the coords reversed....maybe that's a hint for someone else.

Now that was

very cool!!

Not doing anything worth a darn.

It gives you a clue

The clue is that they are traveling very fast and that they are not streaks. That tells you that the camera has an extremely fast shutter speed.

Did you notice the shadows?

Nice Find!

A few years ago, a commercial jet was over a neighbor's house while on approach to O'Hare, but updated satellite images have shown it's no longer there. I suppose it finally landed.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled forum - already in progress . . .

Good eye

Very cool, thanks.

If anyone is trying to see what he's talking about and you find yourself in Antarctica instead of North Carolina, read the whole thread.

cool.

wow. wut a find.

.

Funny. Nice catch.

Ship

Wonder if they're after the ship turning away from shore?!? mrgreen

This one near my house in the California Delta

There's several groups around this location with geese.

This is a UFO just west of Area 51!!!!

They say it is just two piles of stone, one dark, one light, but they are lined up pretty well.

Also, the shadow is not lined up correct....

But it is funny!!!!

Almost in sync. surprised

I was scanning clothing-optional beaches and was disappointed that the resolution in Google Earth wasn't high enough, so I switched to looking for aircraft. (However, if you use the military version...) wink And if you believe that, I want to talk to you about some land in Florida. Real answer is WAAAAAAAAY to much time on my hands.

Google Earth Forums

Check the discussion forums on Google Earth.

There are tons of sightings like these, and the users share them with each other, just as we just did here. The collections of sightings are unbelievable. BTW, the name of the software and web sight was Keyhole before Google bought them. So the URL to the forums has remained keyhole.com.

Aggies?

Is it the linear accelerator that the physics department at Texas A&M built about 40 years ago, then decided to dedicate by irradiating a Corps ring to change the molecular structure of the stone, but all they managed to do was melt it into a radioactive blob?

From Google Map, that's Davis Monthan AFB. Cool thing is, you can drag the little google man on the map on Irvington Rd and see the planes from the road.

Have a look here http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=32.153820,-110.823730&sourceid=...

Simon

Here's my guess

And there too you can toggle street view in google maps.

Simon

Way too much time

Way too much time on your hands. Of course, I looked at them all. . .

Here's My Guess

You nailed it, Simon. The link you posted is correct but out of date. The USAF has run it since 2004 and the array has been lengthened.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_Space_Surveillance_Sy...

I've driven over it a couple of times while traveling on that road seen in the satellite view. Wonder why I don't glow in the dark or my nüvi even still works!

Re: A few more

Surprised you missed the buildings with the holes in the roofs. Looks like explosions occured there.

From the shadows, this looks like it is, or once was a village.

Antenna Farm. Looks like a phased array for high power station. But no power lines. Looks like underground feed from NE.
