Displaying more data within your waypoints.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, I can't find it.

I want to enter information about a waypoint that will be displayed on my GPS. Example: I have a waypoint called "Bluebridge Ferry Terminal, Wellington" - the GPS cuts off the name and it appears as: "Bluebridge Ferry Terminal, Wel" and NO other info appears.

I know that there's a toggle for "Display" and it can be "Symbol", "Symbol & Name" or "Symbol & Comment" but that's not good enough.

I want to populate my waypoints with more info and be able to see it on my GPS! There's tons of unused space on the screen when you view an individual waypoint...

I know about "Tourguides", but I don't want to go through that kinda trouble just to see a bit more data for a waypoint!

Yeah, I did check out Geepeeex, but to be honest, I don't think I should have to pay for a program to get the functionality that SHOULD be available out of the box!

This is like buying a car, and not being able to read the stereo display fully... You shouldn't NEED to buy a program to get that kind of functionality...

Know what I mean?

I know what ya mean

If the unit has the capability, then they should support it. They probably will ... sometime. In the mean time, we seek alternatives that will accomplish what we wish.

I have contacted Garmin on this issue in a couple of emails and waiting for a reply. If I don't hear from them soon, I will call them regarding this particular issue.

Can't provide a full explaination right now. But I created several MC campground waypoints, then added a lot of text in the comment section. I saved them and downloaded to the Zumo as POI and all the info appears in the MC Campground selection under WHERE TO / EXTRAS / CUSTOM POIS / MC CAMPGROUNDS. if there was to much text a MORE tab was included. This added info won't show up on the map though. If interested I'll post instructions later.

My file is available at POI Factory under campgrounds, if you want to download it and check it out on Mapsource and your Zumo.
