Garmin talk

I know you can do quite a bit with tomtom as far as hacking it goes.... but i'm curious to know if anyone has came across anything that can add additional functionality to garmin 250w.

If there is anyone who is disappointed with the built in FM trans on the GPS system (I have the 660) then I might have an answer for you. I just had a AXXESS iPOD Auxiliary input module installed in my Tundra truck. I got it at Circuit City for $49 and they installed it for $50.

I am getting married this weekend and just purchased a 660 for my honeymoon trip to Hawaii. I am not new to the forum world but I am new to this type of technology so let me apologize in advance as I am sure these questions have been asked many times before (I did search and read the FAQs page).

I received a Nuvi 650 for Christmas and had to return it when I discovered a broken contact point in the windshield mount. I upgraded to the 750 and have noticed a significant delay in aquiring the satellites. Is this a known problem?

I understand that custom POI's can not be used on the SD card in my c330.
But if I download maps from mapsource, will the POI's included ( NOT custom, not waypoints) be visible to the c330?

I find some dust inside the touch screen pad that make me annoyed. Is there any way to get rid of it?

Nuvi 350 occasionally shuts off by itself in the middle of rides especially when it recalculates.
anyone has experience of it?

Someone posted a URL address yesterday that gave a compact list of current Garmin products and their features.

Hi, Not that I am not happy with the voice on my c530 but I was curious on how to change the voices if I wanted to. Also are there more then one English speaking voice that is already installed on the c530 or do I need to download it somehow. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have noticed that when I go to the sat. location screen on my 660 the elevation is changing even when standing still. Is this normal?

Hi, I'm brand-new at owning a GPS.

I have a new Nuvi 660 and I was thinking of ordering a couple extra suction cup mounts for my extra vehicles.
My question is as follows.
Are the Garmin accessories of the same exact quality and fit as the original accessories that came in the box with my new nuvi 660?

Just seen these updates on Garmin sight.Any ideas what the change improves on?Could not find any info for clarification.

I was not thrilled with how the MSN traffic receiver was working on my Nuvi 680. While living in a coverage area, it only locked on about 10% of the time while driving to work. I was beginning to think I had a defective receiver but others on this board expressed the same problem.

I'm using poifinder to check a few garmin poi files I'm working on, but I keep getting this error for the entire file:

"The Longitude in Line 1 (1st Call Auto Appearance Services) is incorrect for 'USA's 48 States' limits.
The Latitude in Line 1 (-Richardson-TX-(214) 415-9359) is incorrect for 'USA's 48 States' limits."

Is there any software that can be bought that will turn my 550 into a GPS for my boat?

Can anyone help me figure out a way to put icons in my Nuvi 200 GPS unit. After I down load Custom POIs, on the map I see dots where those points are, I would like to see the actual icon for such points.

I was just browsing through the various programs available for Garmins, and I saw the Garmin TOPO 2008 DVD.

I was wondering if this is a worthwhile upgrade for my nuvi 350, and how it differs from the City Navigator NT?

After loading several Custom POI's onto my Nuvi 660 my maps are "slow". Slow meaning that as I am driving I pass a road or an exit before it shows it on the GPS. Is this normal for the 660 or can this be fixed? I haven't tried removing the POI's yet but I wanted to ask first.
