MSN Direct Receiver Prices and Subscription Inquiry

Does anyone know where a good deal can be had for a new MSN Direct Receiver Part# 010-00583-00 ?
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8526
I have a Nuvi 760 and am looking into a spare traffic receiver but scoffed at the cost of the GTM receiver.
Also, what are the various subscription rates for the MSN Service? I know the first year is included in the purchase of the receiver and there are both annual and lifetime subscriptions. What are the costs for those and any other subscription rates you know of?

Thank you in advance!

That's a good price actually for a manufacturers site...

type that part number in at yahoo in the search box and check out the results... the cheapest I found was $91.59 at http://www.pcsuperdeals.com/ProductView.asp?SessionId=BD3635...

MSN Direct

DrewDT,
I just ordered the receiver from Garmin. If you have just recently registered your 760 (which I did with my 750) then you'll get a 10% discount for thirty days through the Garmin store. Other than that, Garmin's site is even cheaper than Amazon.com, where I do a lot of my shopping.

Either way, with the purchase of the receiver you'll get a free 1-year subscription to MSN Direct, which will give you the chance to see if you even like it.

Hope this helps.

Activate it online

and get an offer for $9.95 to add an additional 6 months to the free 12 months.

Thanks for the responses

I wonder if I decided to go with a lifetime subscription if that is transferable to a different GPS in the future. It is unlikely I will have my Nuvi mor than 5 years before new GPS features entice me to upgrade and a lifetime subscription would be useless unless it can be transferred to a different GPS. If it is associated with the receiver and not the GPS that would also be a good option.

The subscription to my

The subscription to my knowledge is not transferable to a different unit, in fact what I understand is that if you sell that unit with a lifetime subscription to another individual, the subscription will be void. Then there is the question, how would they know if you sold that unit, say to another family member, unless they might be in a different locale.. just my opinion.

Lifetime Subscription

Hmmm, that is interesting. How would they know indeed. If what you're saying is true then it isn't worth getting a lifetime subscription unless the cost is similar to the cost of subscribing for three years. Not many people keep portable electronics for much longer than that.

How much is a lifetime

How much is a lifetime subscription?

I've found the msn direct

I've found the msn direct doesn't update quickly enough....has been of minimal use

I hate to

admit it but rxmedicine is 100% correct... I use my receiver 10 hours a day and most accidents are cleared and long gone and still appear on the screen...

Update speed

Hopefully this is an issue that will get better over time especially since MSN will be competing for market share with their receiver.
