Too Many Alerts for POIs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put the rest area poi on my Nuvi 350. I used poi loader in manual mode and set the distance to alert at 2 miles. At every point, the Nuvi alerts me with an mp3 I created at 2 miles away. Outstanding, right? NO! It also plays the same mp3 about every 7 seconds until I pass the rest area. That is about 12 times I get alerted on the same poi. The unit is set to single alert. Am I missing something or is this just how it is?

That's how proximity alerts work. You will continue to be alert as long as you are with the alert distance.

And don't forget you often (usually) get a double hit due to coming into range of the rest area on your side of the road and then another hit for the rest area for traffic in the other direction..

I have that problem before. You know what I end up. I removed the voice alert. This way you will have the red bar at the top and you will hear the beep sound.

... set for 5000 feet. That way I get the alert in plenty of time, but I get it only once (in rare cases I will get the second bong for the ramp in the opposite lane). Of course, my 260 doesn't have the option of voice alerts, so that isn't an issue. Worked great on my 2200 mile drive from Colorado to Florida.

My 750 gives 1 audio alert with the testing I did adding my home as an alert. I did not always get the visual alert.
Starbucks alert drove me crazy
I foolishly set a proximity alert for Starbucks before going on 6000 mile tour of the USA. In some towns the darn GPS was bonging every few blocks! (I'm looking at you, Boulder, Colorado). I didn't have my computer to undo the setting so I lived with it for 3 weeks.
