Garmin talk

This may be a very silly question that has been covered before, but if your GPS is stolen and it is registered, why cant Garmin track it locate the thief and have it returned back to you???? It makes sense to me hello it is a GPS!!! Why would you even dare try stealing it!!!!

Does anyone know if you can 'speed up' the simulated route process? It works as if you were driving 50mph or less, and takes forever!!

I got just a month ago the 350 and it's great! Suits my need very well. However those who have come to Montreal, QC, will have to agree with me that traffic is a NIGHTMARE especially in summer with all the damn constructions!

Has anyone bought a GPS on eBay? Could they register it? What about mapping?

I read on Garmin's site, they will not support products purchased on an online auction site. I called, asked and was told the following:

I'm considering an update from City Select North America NT v7 to v8 on my C330.
Is the update really worthwhile and if so, does the update erase and rewrite the new data?

After reading the forum files here on the Garmin map upgrade, I contacted Garmin via email. The response I reeived is " I am sorry we are unable to submit your request for a free update disk. We are not shipping the update disk to Canada.

I got a C550 3 days ago and a friend got the Nuvi 350 no bluetooth. I have used mine that last 2 days at work and the boss like it and wants to get one to use for deliveries where we don't have good directions.

I talked to Tim at Garmin yesterday and ask if I could get the 2008 upgrade since I just got my Garmin c550 streetpilot last month. He ask me to fax a copy of my sales receipt to him, but he would have to get it approved by his supervisor. So, I guess I wait. If I don't hear anything back in a few days should I call back? (JUST WONDERING) if that would help???

If any of you have the new update and live or commute though Boston, MA can you tell me if the update includes the new infrastructures caused by the Big Dig?

Hi, guys just got my C550 SUnday and loaded some stuff off the net, and was wondering can I load Topo maps on here as well? On a side not what's the best way about asking them to send me the 2008 updated roads as I checked my serial number and it say it can be updated? mention I had it 3 days and found it has an updated CD already and don't want to exchange it in 25 days ?

We're doing a road trip around the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in August. I've been trying to find POI (.csv) files for rest areas/stops to load into my Nuvi 350. Does anyone know where to find these?

Garmin released the first software update for the 2x0 series nuvis.

Is is recommended (or possible) to backup the software prior to doing the update?

What is the purpose or significance of the routes for Automobiles vs. Emergency vs. Bus? How would the routes for Emergency vehicles be different than the ones for regular civilian vehicles? Also, I've noticed that if you select bicycle, then all street names are displayed. How would I enable that feature but in vehicle mode?

I own a Garmin C530 and I am very satisfied with it. The only issue is the fact that we can not download Routes to it. Reading on the Garmin site today I saw the MetroGuide North America v.8 is available.

It says "MetroGuide offers automatic route capability on the PC, and is compatible with Garmin units that do not have automatic route calculation themselves."

About 4 days ago my 680 started only speaking the first 3 or 4 words of a prompt. What gives?

hi, we have had our garmin 350 since feb of this year. we have never had a problem until today. it seems my garmin gps is in new york while i am at home in ct.

it is right here with me but says it it traveling through new york and the little car is moving on the little road. i don't know what to do.

i have looked every where to rprogram it but i can't find anything.

I inadvertently loaded duplicate Starbucks POIs on my Nuvi 660. How do I delete them?

We had a very severe thunder storm and the power was out for some time
during the night. My NUVI was plugged in to the wall charger and would not
turn on this morning. I've tried the reset button and nothing seems to
work.

I think it's "fried". The screen was warm this morning when I touched it.

I've notified Garmin and hopefully they'll cover this.
