Garmin talk

I just got back from a work related trip to Austin. After choosing a car at the rental facility I set up my Garmin and entered the address for the hotel which is about 30 minutes away from the airport. Driving down 71 the GPS told me to take an exit not more than a mile from the airport then reenter 71 at the next ramp.

Looking for the lowest price on Garmin Lifetime Map updates.

Brand new - Just received 3 days ago.

All the auto-routing works well as an automobile, but as Truck or RV, it is completely off.

Anyone have this same experience ??

I am new to all of this. I have just discovered how to download custom POIs from here to my Nuvi 255W. Is is possible to copy some of the icons here to the the map symbols existing on my GPS? Or how do I connect the new icons with existing locations?

Just downloaded the latest version of POI Loader and it can not convert .wav files to the proper format. Anyone know what the problem is? Would give you the version number but can not readily locate it.

How do I make an existing POI file a "TourGuide" file. Is it as simple as adding "TourGuide" somewhere in the file name?

Normally I install map updates on my PC, but they take space on the HD. I would assume I can remove some of these older updates without doing any harm... or what?

My Garmin 255W does not show a street that has been there for decades and is well known to local residents. How do I get this road added?

If it is through Garmin, do I get a free update or do I need to purchase one? (They want $80 for an update, and I can buy a newer unit with lifetime updates for only a few dollars more.)

Quick question. I had my computer repaired and cleaned out yesterday. It got rid of a lot of junk and some bugs. I am now having to re-download Garmin Communicator, WebUpdater,and POI Loader. It seems to be taking forever to download where it didn't take nearly this long before. Is there something I can do to bring it back up to speed when downloading the programs?

Changes made from version 3.90 to 4.00:

* Fixed a shutdown that occurs while displaying some map features.
* Corrected a Sigma-character display error in Greek.
* Corrected language translation errors.

Still having problems with the sun glare on my Garmin 2360 lmt. Can you buy a film to cover the screen of the unit to help with the glare? I have set the brightness to 100%, helped some, but still have problem seeing the screen. I may use one from a cell phone on the unit and see if that will help. Never had this problem with my old 550 mounted in the same location.

I just got my 3790T. I am concerned about damage to it and was hoping to find a "skin" or some protection for the edges in case it drops.

Any Ideas? I thought that maybe it was the same size as an apple product it is 4.8 X 2.9 X X .35

I have also ordered some screen protectors. Are these going to mess up the performance of the touch screen?

I have loaded my GPSmap76csx (POI loader) with wp and proximity zones, 750m, but the alert sounds at different distances. Everything from 750 to 0m!

What is wrong??

I recently bought a Garmin GPS device with lifetime maps. "Lifetime Maps" include 4 map updates a year. But, within few weeks I used up 2 updates and wondering whether I will run out of my 4 chances before the year end.

Does anyone know how often Garmin updates the maps? Is their a webpage that lists the update history?

I have downloaded all of the POIs I wanted and with some difficulty have them now in a POI folder.

I just bought an SD Card to copy that folder to my Garmin.

I decided to load the zipcode file on the sd card and the other poi files on the unit.
When I power up the 295 I get this screen:

Help please. Last few times I've run POI Updater it has frozen. With all the new RLC camera locations posted recently, I was able to determine that my Nuvi 1490T is NOT getting the RLC updates before the freeze happens.

I understand that my lighter adapter is the traffic receiver, but after two years, all of a sudden the 660 had traffic information. I decided to roll with it, but as I suspected, the next time I used the 660, traffic was gone. All of that stuff should be included imho as it's free anyway with any droid phone...

Hello, I have a Kenwood DNX6140/DNX6000EX/DNX5140 unit in my truck. I've had it for about a year now. I can't seem to figure out the correct way to load POI's unto my unit. The instruction manual tells a specific way to load with a CD through the DVD slot.

I followed the instruction manual and still no luck!

Any suggestions on what I can do so I can enjoy POIs???
