Slow download

Quick question. I had my computer repaired and cleaned out yesterday. It got rid of a lot of junk and some bugs. I am now having to re-download Garmin Communicator, WebUpdater,and POI Loader. It seems to be taking forever to download where it didn't take nearly this long before. Is there something I can do to bring it back up to speed when downloading the programs? The computer is running much better otherwise. Thanks in advance

First, check your antivirus/firewall programs. They might be impacting the downloads. Try temporarily disabling the programs during the downloads and see if that helps.
Second, check your internet connection speed. It's unlikely but something might have been affected during the repair. You can go to www.speedtest.net for a free speed check.

OK. I will try to disable the anti-virus next time. I am getting 11.5 mbps for download. Didn't take this long before and had same anti-virus. You never know. I will give it a whirl!! Thanks again for your quick response. I will let you know how it goes.

Well, I thought I would give it 1 more try. I rebooted, and things are downloading faster, like they used to. It was the initial re-installation of WebUpdater, POI Loader, and Comminicator that took forever. I am now trying to download the new Map (2011.4) and things seem to be going well.
Still have the anti-virus running, so not sure what the problem was.

Try a defrag on the drive. I'll bet it needs it.
