POI icons added to existing map symbols?

I am new to all of this. I have just discovered how to download custom POIs from here to my Nuvi 255W. Is is possible to copy some of the icons here to the the map symbols existing on my GPS? Or how do I connect the new icons with existing locations?

POI icons

If you are asking how to change the built in icons or have custom icons on the built in POI's, I don't think that is possible.

Icons

You can't change the internal icons.What you can do is add icons for your custom poi files.Also you can select icons for favorite from a pre-determined list when you edit one of them.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 for custom pois .It will show you how to load them from site and how to add to custom pois.

Is it possible to copy icons

Is it possible to copy icons from here and use them on my GPS without having them named/associated with a custom poi? In other words, if I find an icon of a dog and I want to have it on my GPS for future discoveries of dog parks, vets, or whatever. Can I do that?

You cannot add to the built in Waypoint/Favorites icons.
