Any issues logging on to Garmin site for firware updates?

This is a two part question.
1.
I've be trying for the last two days to update my firmware from Garmin. All I get is the site is having problems and to try back later. Does anyone know what the latest update is for the 1390?

2.
I am running out of space on my 1390 and want to delete all their voices or should I say languages on the unit. Will that cause any problems for the unit?

Firmware Updates

Two days ago I updated both the firmware & maps for my new 1350 Nuvi. No problems except the length of time it took for the map update.

To free up more space.I copied this from search Garmin support.

you receive an error message stating, "There is not enough free space on your Garmin GPS, you need an additional XX MB on your Garmin GPS for the application to continue," please follow these steps to free up more space on your nuvi:

For PC

Connect the nuvi to the computer with a USB cable
Double-click My Computer or Computer on your desktop
Double-click on the GARMIN drive listed under devices with removable storage
Double-click on the Garmin folder
Double-click on the Voice folder
Delete any unused voice files (be sure to keep your preferred language)
Return to the Garmin folder
Repeat steps 5-7 with the Text and Help folders

For Mac

Connect the nuvi to the computer with a USB cable
It will mount to the desktop, double-click on Garmin or nuvi
Double-click on the Garmin folder
Double-click on the Voice folder
Delete any unused voice files (be sure to keep your preferred language)
Return to the Garmin folder
Repeat steps 4-6 with the Text and Help folders
Empty the trash
After the files are deleted, run the map update again. This should free up additional space for you to complete the download.

I have been trying to update

I have been trying to update the software on my 1490T with no success with my dashboard and with web updater, with my 660 no problem. When I use the web updater it states there is a communications error try later. With my dash board it starts to update then hangs up (freezes), I have been able to cancel the update with no problems. Map updates work just fine!

Newbee with a 1450T

I just got my 1450T. Dashboard says there is system and map updates available, but continues to say that even after going through the update process. Not sure if everything is updated or not. How can I tell?

Use WebUpdater for unit updates

Use WebUpdater for unit updates and not myDashboard. Note that WebUpdater does NOT update maps nor notify if map updates are available.

See here for why webUpdater is the preferred update method: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/29123

Update 1490T

Last night I tried the web updater again, it did communicate with no errors but it indicated there were no software updates. Then I went to my dash board it indicated there was a software udate I installed it this time with no problems.

The web updater communicates because it shows updates on voices and other things but would not provide a software update!
