nuvi 37xx series v4.00 firmware released March 16, 2011

Changes made from version 3.90 to 4.00:

* Fixed a shutdown that occurs while displaying some map features.
* Corrected a Sigma-character display error in Greek.
* Corrected language translation errors.

Routes Built w/Mapsource

Do the 37xx series units allow pre-developed routes to be downloaded to them from Mapsource?

Garmin has indicated that this ability will be available for the 37xx series by the end of the first quarter of 2011, which I reckon to be the end of March...but it has not yet come to pass.

I just got my 3790t with software version 2.50. I’ll hold off for now and see how this new update goes for others. In the meantime my unit is working great.

Anybody have any problems

Anybody have any problems with this update? I am leery about doing any changes that might make things worse, as opposed to better?

I took the plunge! lol

Monday morning I decided I would update my software version from 2.50 to 4.00. Everything works great. This test was done in two days and 531.9 miles later.

Under tools, settings, system, navigation, automobile, nuroute, calculation mode, there is a new selection called “prompted”. Instead of selecting Faster Time, Prompted when selected will give four different routes to select from. I’m still playing with it. It’s a toss up for me between Faster Time and Less Fuel for certain routes.

Bluetooth and voice command gone going to 4.00

After a 4.00 upgrade, I no longer see any bluetooh or voice command icons in Nuvi 3790T. Also, all references to 3790T gone as it always shows 37xx. Already did hard reset twice to no avail.

Extremely disappointed !!!!!

You can always roll back to the version that worked best for you.

To use the region file updates, download & save the desired file to your PC. Rename the file you downloaded to GUPDATE.GCD and copy it to your nuvi drive into the x:/Garmin folder. Safely disconnect your nuvi from the PC and power cycle it. The firmware update (or backdate) will then proceed. Using an older version than what is currently on the unit will backdate the firmware with the nuvi prompting you if that is what you really wish to do. Follow the prompts on the nuvi and the rest is automatic.

Routing

Anyone heard anything more on Garmin's update for 37xx so they'll accept "routing" downloads?

I was scouting the internet and read the following post re: the promised 37xx "routing" feature: "Thank you for contacting Garmin International. It's been stated that there will be a software update to address the issue with Mapsource, however, there has been no announced release date for it."
