I recently managed to download POIs for Canada but there are thousands in there that I just don't want. Is there a way of editing with the POI file before I download?

I may be answering my own question here but here goes anyway. I see a lot of POIs published such as Target, WalMart, Kinkos, etc. Is this because the built in databases on the GPS units is not up to date and this is a way to supplement with more current data? I can use the spell feature to locate Targets and those other stores but I am guessing they are probably not up to date.

Is there a POI file for Target stores in the USA? How hard is it to make one and how would you go about starting a POI for this?

anyone has a Fedex Kinko's POI for the garmin? can't seem to find that in the C530 anyware. thanks for all of your help.

Unsure what this POI file that is being offered on this site is about. Does it contain locations of trails, rest stops, or site-seeing spots in a Park called Arch's? Or does it lead you to Unique rock arches in various National Parks?

I guess my point is that we should stress that the author of the POI's submitted should be encouraged to write a brief description of their submitted file. Please do not take this wrong, I really, REALLY appreciate those that take the time to make these wonderful POI's.

How do you update a CSV file you posted without creating a new file.

I have made a POI File for Casinos, actually two of them, one for US and one for Canada. I have yet to input the data that has been provided from Auggie that covers the NE US and Ontario Canada.

Does anyone know if there are ham radio repeater POI's anywhere. Looking for 2 meter and 440 repeaters while traveling.

If anyone would like to help co-author a file I would be willing to take it on, maybe just do a state at a time. The whole country would be a massive undertaking.

something that alot of vehical gps dont have would love to set it up would be willing to do the work if someone would give me the heads up on the best way to format it then ill post it on various sites as well as my own and see if we can get them from areound the country

I recently bought my first GPS and love it! I don't get lost anymore. I was intrigued about POI and finally managed to get one downloaded. I was disappointed to find that most POI seem to relate only to radar traps or red light cameras.

I live in Aurora, ON, Canada (near Toronto) and love to go for day road trips with my puppy (she's 13). Does anyone know of a POI that would have local POI for parks, conservation areas, walking/bike trails, water fall tours, ghost towns, etc?

Is there a Dunkin Donuts POI list formatted for Garmin.csv?

Does anyone know of a database of National Public Radio station tower locations?

Dear Fellow POI Factory Users and Website Creators:

First, thank you for creating this website. Access to free GPS data has changed my life. I will go into greater detail as to how below.

I am blind. Adapted GPS gives me two peaces of information I never had easy access to before. It tells me about points of interest and landmarks around me. It also tells me my position relative to them. Free data makes it much easier and less costly for me to get this information. Latitude and longitude information are not covered by copyright.

Just downloaded the new POI file listing all of the US FM stations from fred1. Great idea, should be very useful on long trips for those of us who don't have satalite radio.

Just wondering, where did you find all the gps data?

This morning I added 2 more states to the Home Depot poi file and there is one for Sparks, NV that I am unable to get the coordinates. All I am able to get is the zip code location but NOT the address location. It is located at what I think is a new mall/plaza known as Spanish Springs at this address:

What I need is someone in the area to get the coords for me so I can complete the NV portion of the file.

I'm new to downloading custom POI's and was wondering if there are any websites that offer waypoint bitmap logos for use on the POI's?

Any suggestions?

This file is growing quickly lately with almost 30 POI's in there and I know there are a lot more to go. Just trying to slowly add them over time.

There are several in there I have listed as unconfirmed (in the title of the POI and the description). Some of these places are a long way from home. On top of that, Google Earth does not have enough detail to make out some of them.

I spent a good amount of time reorganizing the POI files area today. Some of the original categories had quite a few files, and it was getting a little hard to find things.
