Free access to Red light camera files by earning active user status

I read were you can get free access to the Red light Ticket cameras.
"You can gain access to download this file by participating on the site and earning active user status"

My question is what do you need to do to earn active user status?

Please Don't Run Red Lights

Please don't run red lights 'cause this is what happens!

in the Vancouver BC area

I am finding that POI is working out better than cyclops.

There were a few valid alerts from POI, where Cyclops didn't even go off.

That really made me question Cyclops, when there are still alerts for NJ, who did away with rlcs 4 years ago.

speed cams should be coming to Phila

again, I'm not a proponent of them, and am a proponent of rlcs.

I do agree there is a problem on Roosevelt Ave.

Work Zone Speed Cams Are Now a Reality in PA.

Senate bill 172 passed the house & senate. It's now on the way to the governors desk who has indicated he will sign it.

Garmin Cyclops false alerts

It would seem to me that maintaining an accurate database is very difficult.

Yesterday, we were passing through NJ, and being alerted at all the old intersections where NJ had rlcs. They did away with them years ago.

Back in July, I purchased the Cyclops figuring we're going to be spending time in Toronto, let's be extra careful and do the belt and suspenders method of awareness.

red light cameras in general

Yesterday, I thought about it again, as I passed through the cam at 34th and Grays Ferry in Phila., making a left turn.

Two cars ahead of me ran 3 consecutive lights heading west. That would be 35th, S Harmony, and Grove. This happens every day, day in, day out. But very few people run 34th and Grays Ferry.

University study: Red light cameras don't reduce accidents

Here's yet another study, this time by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, that shows that red light cameras don't make intersections safer. It's a short but interesting read.

Has anyone here ever gotten a speed or rlc ticket?

I have in 2002, and I didn't even know they existed.

My hunch is the % on this forum is < .01

I have always wanted to find a case where someone was wrongfully ticketed, other than the obvious, where a stationary vehicle got a ticket, or 100% of people got a ticket, i.e. malfunction. Never have seen one and I've been here a long time...still curious

So much for quality control... Traffic camera in New Orleans giving speeding tickets to parked cars

Looks like the people certifying that a "violation occurred" don't even look at the pictures, they just send out the violations. Maybe if it happened only once I'd be forgiving, but not for more than ten times.

Red Light Camera Direction Of Travel

I've been playing around with the latest version of the red light camera POI file, when out of nowhere, an idea hit smile

As I've always been annoyed to hear the beeps of an upcoming camera and then find out the camera is pointing in another direction, I thought why not change the CSV file to list the street name and direction in the description?

Recently purchased a Garmin DriveSmart 61, a very nice and fast model. It also supports red light and speed cameras. Once I checked more into this, found out I this is a subscription feature from Cyclops ($24.99/year) - see above link.

Bus Lane Cameras

NYC has been using bus lane cameras. Have these been integrated with the red light and speed cameras? Here are the locations of the bus lane cameras:

Speed Cam Case in Ohio may go to Supreme Court

A Speed Cam case in Ohio may go to the U.S. Supreme Court. A Federal Court has ruled that the town of New Miami in Ohio must return more than $3 million in automated speeding tickets. This could bankrupt the town!

Seems that the court saw the cameras as just a money making scheme. This is exactly what many people believe.
