I've updated the unread posts page to include a couple new options.

Each post now has a "skip" action, which marks the post as read (without viewing).

I've also added a "Set Favorite Forums" feature, that lets you designate your favorite forums so their posts sort ahead of others in the unread posts list.

Please somebody educate me about MapSource . Why do I need to update or simply why do I need Mapsource program installed in my computer? Another question, after updating to newer version, do I need to send the map to my Garmin unit? FYI, I have newest v2008 map installed.

I have a c550 and I loaded the Speed_Trap,Lakes-West and populated-west poi files. I have duplicates of each one. I tried deleting them from my SD and my garmin device and they are still there in the extras link under custom poi?? I tried changing the folder names also. anyone have the same problem ? If all else fails . How do I start over ? Bill Scott

On Monday, the Minnesota Supreme Court has deemed illegal Minneapolis' use of the so-called "PhotoCop" cameras.

The court found that ticketing the owners of cars that were videotaped without proof of who was actually driving the car violated the rights of the owners.

This picture should once and for all time tell us that things in Texas are really bigger than any other place or are people in Texas, just near sighted. LOL

I am a nuvi with my Nuvi 350 and POI's. How does a custom POI interact with the Nuvi when downloaded. Example. I just loaded the Passport America Campground POI. Will a campground show up on a route? Can I type in Passport America and will the Nuvi find the closet one to my current location?

For approx. 3 months, the suction cup window mount worked fine for my Garmin 550. Now it holds for a few hours (more or less) and entire unit (Garmin and mount) falls to the floor of my car.

Is the mount worn and I need a new one, OR

I need to clean the window and or mount, wet the mount or other procedure? I was thinking of the dash mount but it's big and bulky to hide.

Within hours of buying my first GPS unit (Garmin C330), I found this site and through the links herein was able to do the following in short order:

1) Learned how to upload POIs to my unit.

2) Made my small contribution and downloaded the red light list.

Has anybody had any trouble loading "Google Earth" to their computers. Everytime I load it and try to run it, I get a shutdown when I am about 30 sec. into the program. The error says there is an Exec. file that is flawed.

I was looking for a way to convert the Petro POI alert sound...and I came across this site. You can convert files online without having to download and install any programs.

Any implications for Garmin and our Map updates?

Yesterday I drove east at 9AM on the Belt Parkway, Southern State Pkway, and LIE going to Riverhead. The sun was coming directly into the car through the front windshield and striking me almost head on. The reflection of the sunlight from my close bouncing back onto the NUVI TOTALY washed out the screen and made it impossible to read.

On another thread, "Sellador" posted about some Garmin Compatible open source maps available of NZ at http://gwprojects.orcon.net.nz/gps/
He posted "There's some question about them working with the Nuvi line, but it's mostly that no one there has tried, and it's worth a look before spending so much on the commercial ones."

I got some of this thing figured out, but i am doing it the hard way, I got a poi file, opened it up in excell and modified it, along with the corordence with goggle earth, but am doing all this long hand, is there a easier way to do this, it works ok when i plug in the s/d card, i have read in the forums that you can do something like what i am looking for by exporting the info you need thru

My c550 makes a sound after I installed the red camera file but no icon comes up where should the Icon's go for that file ? Newbie Bscott022

A couple of years ago, after an 11 hour tour of the state fair, my daughter and I found it almost impossible to find our car in the mist of 1000's of cars in an unmarked grass parking lot. It took us 1 1/2 hrs to finally find our car.

Having recently been out of touch for about a week, I have some comments about the functionality of the marking unread messages as read function. Having over 7 pages of messages, it would have taken me days to read them all, and there are many that I wasn't interested in, based on the title.

1. Marking unread messages as read is a time saver.

The traffic camera POI list in my area includes a number of intersections that do not have redlight cameras. Perhaps someone mistook the emergency vehicle RF receivers for cameras - they look like thin security cameras and usually sit over an intersection. Shall I report these to someone?
