Humor is the spice of life!

How about adding some seasoning to this "super-geeky" community by sharing hilarious stories, with our little gizmos as main characters?
Personally, I don't have any stories (yet!) but I barely can wait to read some!
To make a point, I would like to bring up this thread:

It's soooooo funny!

Garmin C 330 & Custom Poi's

This Is what Garmin Replyed;

Thank you for contacting Garmin International, 1. Yes, your c330 will be
able to properly read any custom POI files from an SD card loaded into
the unit.

2. With all of the information added in the latest update, the unit does
not have enough memory to hold both the US and Canada, this is why it

POI proximity alerts

I have tried to research this topic by searching the various discussions on this site but come away confused. I have a school zone POI named Schools@30.cve, which I have saved in my Speed folder. I also have redlight POI nemed Redlight Camera.cvs, which I have saved in my Redlight folder. My gps is a nuvi 360.

Can you find GPI files stored on your data card?

I placed some mp3 and jpg files on my 4gb storage card of my 680, as well as some gpi or tour files. The mp3 files show up when I pull up the mp3 player and the jpg files show up when I bring up the pictures viewer but I can find nowhere that the gpi or tour files can be found. Perhaps I should have stored them on the internal storage under 'extras'.

Not Recommended

I don't think this would be a recommended use for the redlight POI files:

KNOXVILLE, TN -- A $50 fine would've been a bargain for Clifford Clark.

Instead, Clark is looking at criminal charges and jail time.

He's accused of shooting out a red light camera Sunday to avoid a ticket.

All POI's in one file

I have just purchased a mio c320 and am unhappy with the lack of POI's and have been looking for a free way to get more on their. I was wondering if there is a way to put all the POI's from this sit in one file without having to download them all individually the splicing them together. I know I will have to convert them for use in my PND.

POI File Alert

When making a poi file if you put a number with the file the poi loader will use it as an alert for speed but does anyone know how to put feet in the file so you dont have to manually do it with the poi loader because if you got a lot of poi files it takes forever Thanks

Nuvi 700 Series

Hi All,

Tomtom ONE LE or Garmin Nuvi 200? Which should I choose?

Hi,

Between these two units, which of these has the foreign language voice (Chinese-Cantonese)?

I tried to look up info for these units on the web and was confused by different versions of Tomtom (ONE, ONE 3rd edition). And LE edition wasn't mentioned much.

Can poi files be downloaded to a Magellan Roadmate 2000

I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum to ask a question, however I would welcome any discussions regarding the Magellan Roadmate 2000. Also I am a chauffeur in L.A. and would be interested in comments with regard to what users think is the best GPS for chauffeurs

Chatty Kathy thread for the week of November 26th 2007

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Navigon 5100 GPS

Hi. Has anyone purchased and been using the Navigon 5100 GPS unit ?

My wife ordered one for her parents from Costco.

It was $299 Plus a $50 Rebate on top of that.

It seems like a reasonably capably unit but has very mixed reviews.

So I'd like to hear from any actual owners.

Thanks, Tim

Contributors of the week 2007-11-21

This week is a special week, it marks the first anniversary of the COW award;)

So this weeks recipients are Sewisdom and Quackinup...

Sewisdom, you did a wonderful job making poi files this week and also creating the BMP Icons that went with those files.

How do I delete a phone number I have added to my Nuvi phonebook?

When I got my new Nuvi 680, I figured out a way to import my cell phonebook to it by using bluetooth and sending via vcard....one at a time. The problem is, I added a number I didn't really want into the Nuvi phonebook and I can't find a way to delete it. Am I stuck with the numbers that I added, forever?..lol.

For Miss Poi

I don't mean to be disrespectful but ... is your photo for real? 'cause mine is, as many other posters'! (lol)
