I was in Paris not long ago and got into a cab which had a GPS unit. I told the driver where I wanted to go and he pulled out a directory, about 2 inches thick, looked up the hotel, punched in about 4 to 5 numbers and off we went. I figure it must be something like a telephone directory for use with a GPS device. Probably loaded with a POI file indexed to the numbers in the directory.

as u have read and seen on tv, ok has been hit by a real ice storm. over 1/2 million out of power. trees down and blocking many roads. my gps showed me many different routes arond blocked streets. i never thought id love to hear the voice of my c530 girl friend say "recalculating".

Hi folks, This is my 1st post and it's a question that has maybe already been discussed before but I'll ask it anyway. When I try to download a file like 'California State Parks' my computer says it doesn't recognize the CSV file and Can't open it,any suggestions?

How can I delete files that I was tracking from my account.

Decatur, IL -- A Sonoma County, CA, judge has ruled a speeding case supported by an officer's radar cannot be thrown out because the speeder's GPS system allegedly contradicted the radar speed.

I just received my 2008 City Navigator Update today. Is there anything during or after installation I should be aware of. I am asking because I may have missed something of importance in a previous post.

Would anyone know how to download the different icons or sound for certain downloads..... for example .... red light camera

I never had a need for the Red Light Camera file (no cameras in our area) until this past week in Mesa, AZ. In one word ... invaluable!. A sincere thank you to Miss POI and all who have contributed to it.

Garmin Nuvi 200 or TomTom One Third LE?

Is there ever going to be an option to add animated "smileys" in our posts? Directly viewable linked pictures in actual posts from Photobucket, Shutterfly, etc?

Anyone know where I can get a POI of red light and speed cameras in Europe? All this talk about speeding, Porsches and autobahns has left me with a desire to visit the place again..

Where can I find United States gas station POIs for the tomtom go 720 that are free to download?

Is there any place on this website that has your standard average gas stations THROUGHOUT the US? The Shell gas station seem to be the one that comes with the tomtom go 720.

Did anyone catch the last episode of Dexter on Showtime? it seems our favorite serial killer uses a Garmin nüvi. His psycho ex-girlfriend took his GPSr out of his car to find out where he's been. The producers created some fake screen shots and a voice announcing his last destination. The nüvi name was visible briefly as she held it in her hand.

Do they still have red light cameras in Charlotte? Some where I remember that they (Charlotte) had to remove them.
