Chatty Charley thread for the week of March 17th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Maps, pOI's

I have the Garmin350 and the 2007 US Map package pre-loaded. I was surprised to not find Bermuda listed as a location. I am going there in April and would like to find something to use with my GPS. Any help here?

To JM or Misspoi

Curious: While the site loads and looks pretty good on my mobile phone, is it possible to make it more mobile friendly? Keep in mind I have no knowledge of the work load that might be involved. So as I started to say, I’m just Curious.

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, are, uh...

I just saw a POI file for Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits on the "recent posts".

Popey's tastes GREAT... but around here, they use very small pieces of chicken, and have EXORBITANT prices!!

I've decided they are not such a good-deal, after all-

I have a poster in my office that one of our exchange students sent me from Germany. It says:
"Don't Drink and Drive.
Just Drink."

No Spinach

The Popeyes in Maryland are awesome... at least the two that I go to from time to time. BIG pieces... reasonable prices. However, they need to sell cans of spinach too!

Chicago River

Ok so it's the 18th of March, is the river still green in Chicago? How long does it stay dyed?

It's a heck of a trick to see orange plumbers dye thrown into the river from a motor boat, the river looks a scarey orange for a few seconds then boom, a perfect color of kelly green for St. Patrick festivity's. As opposed to the year round color of moss.

Any one that I have been in has been pretty nasty. The food is ok, but thy need a good going over by the local health departments. The last one I was in had a smoke screen, it was cold outside and they didn't want to suck the heat out so they left the exhaust hood blower off over the fryers.

So No more Popeyes for me anywhere in the country, even if they start selling spinach by the can.

You and JM keep up the good work. Your better half has to be a good guy with the initias of JM and they are mine. One question is either of you left handed.

Sandman --------Nuvi 370

Nuvi worked great on vacation!

I just got back from Hawaii and took my 680. I found out that Avis also tries to get you to rent Garmins - I think they're using streetpilots, not sure which model.

Hawaiian Airlines doesn't let you use your GPS on the plane, but I had a window seat and it worked great. I tried it during the movie when the attendants weren't around.

Great time, and my 680 got me around three islands without a hitch. Highly recommended.

The KFC here used to have boneless honey-barbecue chicken that was pretty good. Went to get some the other night and they took 'em off the menu. My 9 year old was so disapointed he said, "We should form an angry mob!"

Dial up

sewisdom wrote:

A very good friend of mine lives in an area where nothing but dial-up is available. Her hubby's company put them (him, actually) on satellite internet, and that didn't work, either.

Needless to say, she is very frustrated.
