is garmin poi loader the only one for down loading files or is there others

For Garmin GPS units, POI Loader is currently the only way to load Custom POIs to the unit.

you can use other programs

you can use other programs to create gpx files and copy them over to the gps, but then again, they would show up in your favorites, not custom POIs
