The current thread sorting scheme is to show first records of the thread first. That makes for a very bad experience. Some of the threads are many pages long. Getting to the current revelent data is a pain.
I had been contemplating whether to post an article on the growing "illegality" of filming police for a while. While it is not really GPS related, many instances seem traffic related and we have had a spat of posts concerning "privacy". These have included OnStar recording your driving and clandestine installation of GPS devise on a person's car.
Jamming of global positioning signals (GPS) during Europe's largest military exercise has been suspended, following complaints from fishermen.
I am noticing a lot of users of this site with Contributor of the Week badges by their names. I'm sure they can't all be contributor of the week for this past week. Are those badges staying with the user after they win it for good? Is this something new?
This is one of those weeks where it's hard to narrow the field and select just one or two people to recognize, so I've decided to do something a little different.
This week, I'm going to shine a spotlight on a discussion topic that I particularly enjoyed and recognize everyone who's contributed to the thread thus far.
The post I've selected is "Rejuvenate a Nuvi Battery?":
This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related.
This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.
to all my fellow canuks
I just ran across an old Time magazine article I had saved. While it has nothing directly to do with Automated Traffic Enforcement, it occurred to me that it would make good reading for city councils and/or police departments considering what leeway should be given to offenses caught on cameras - particularly turning right on red.
State highway officials are using their public offices to lend credibility to ... the Traffic Safety Coalition
Now it's mandatory - GPS capabilities for cell phones by 2018.
This will bring the "Big Brother is watching" paranoids out screaming!
Nuvi 7x5 firmware update to 4.30 released.
Update thru webupdater or Garmin site.
I feel no need to comment further.
after achieving active status, what needs to be done to maintain it?
I want to use the GPS to put coordinates for the location of my ancestors headstone. Some are in very bad shape and are hard to locate.
Has anyone ever done anything like this or have advise how to proceed?
This week we're recognizing turboccc. He's already well decorated as contributor of the year for 2009 and 2010, but like the energizer bunny, this guy just keeps going-and-going-and-going
This last week, turboccc's been quite busy making the top-notch Extra POI Editor (EPE) even more "awesomer", with new beta versions 5.26, 5.27 and soon EPE v5.28.
I recently downloaded two files to my brand new Garmin GPS, Costco and Walmart locations. However now I know that I already have very accurate information for both so how do I delete these from my GPS?

In danger of losing your windmill?
Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive.
Thank you CherylMASS for starting the original "Keeping the Windmill Alive" thread at POI Factory.
