This week we are recognizing ShenanigansNZ.
Thank you so much for all of your humor and tech support in the forums this week. You rock!!!
This topic has probably been discussed before.
If it has I apologize, if it has not, I hope someone finds it useful.
I've been on a quest...
The quest was on how to enhance the contents of POI csv files so the POI's descriptions would, in addition to name, address, phone etc, it would also have things like coordinates and distance between my house and each location.
This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related.
This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.
MaryAnn Melby AKA Miss POI
Picked up the Android Toshiba Thrive Tablet a few days ago.Only has wifi.Been playing around with the navagation. It seems to work as long as you don't leave the route.Once you do you have to re-set from another wifi connection. See http://www.nothingbuttablets.com/2921 .Wondering if anyone else has any feed back on navagation on other tablets with wifi.Or using something other then Google.
Seems that another map error is causing grief.
When an obvious error is causing problems, then why can't the map supplier give that a high priority?
Then you have the folks that don't have a clue that the maps can and should be updated every now and then.
Which navigation system seems to be the best one? Has anyone tried the Escort IQ Navigation/Radar detector device?
If you think your Nav is really good please share what type you have, how long you've had it and what is good and bad about it.
I am a volunteer fireman and have created a POI file with all the hydrants in our fire district. We have installed Garmin GPS's in each fire truck which displays the location of the hydrant on the map. I would like to display not only the hydrant but also the street address where the hydrant is located on the map. Is there a way for me to add this info to the map?
This is the new official POI Factory Joke thread. It will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.
So it is getting pretty darn hot here in Arizona, close to 110F or so. I usually park my car in the shade or garage, but there have been more than a few times where I had to leave my GPS in the glove box, trunk, etc., as I run errands.
Have not had issues yet, but I can't help but think that kind of heat must be bad for the GPS, right?
Looks like we won't have to worry about updates to the Borders POI database.
This week we are recognizing Mahoney, yes the people have spoken and Miss POI is a good listener.
You not only keep your own projects up to date but you also help other people with their projects.
We are so lucky to have you in our community. Thanks for all that you do.
Congrats to Japan for winning the women's world soccer cup - on penalty kicks, and to the USA for making it an exciting final.
I'm new to the forums specifically, though I've had an account with this site for quite longer. And it's been quite some time from making an account here and this topic here. Which seems somewhat wrong.
So again to reiterate, hello folks!
Well... as it states, Hello.
We just purchased a Garmin Nuvi-1450.
I just figured out how to get the POI files with sound and custom icon installed.
Now I'm looking to learn more about creating the custom POI files; however, the discussions and instructions are occationally disjointed. SO, can someone here point me in the right direction?
Amazon is fighting a California law requiring them to collect taxes on sales in the state.
I am planning a trip across Nevada on Hwy 50 in Sept, any interesting poi on the route?
I have some data of UTM zone 42N in yards. How can i convert that data in to decimal degrees?
This week we are recognizing Bear007.
Thanks for all your help in the forums this week, it really has been appreciated.
We live in Maryland, where O'Malley started charging us a $1.50/month "administrative fee" for absolutely nothing, so we canceled our EZ-pass. We use it enough that we'd like to pick one up again but only if there is no fee involved, so I've been looking at neighboring states' EZ-Pass programs.
