It’s not official, but sources say the secretive Zuma satellite was lost
"As of right now reviews of the data indicate Falcon 9 performed nominally.”
On Sunday night SpaceX launched the Zuma satellite into space. What we know for sure is that the first stage of the rocket behaved nominally enough such that it was able to safely return to Earth and make a land-based landing along the Florida coast.

Intel Forms Product Assurance and Security Group amid Meltdown and Spectre Fallout
In response to the Meltdown and Spectre exploits that potentially affect all CPUs released in the recent years, Intel on Monday created a new group that will focus on product assurance and security. The group will be headed by an Intel veteran, but its exact tactical and strategic goals remain unclear.

Spectre Patch Causes 'Significant Slowdown' On Older OS, Chips
Microsoft has begun updating its Windows operating systems against the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities, but not all users will be too happy about it. According to the company, machines running Windows 7 and 8, as well as computers based on Haswell chips or older, will see “significant slowdowns” from the update. Intel’s own findings largely confirm Microsoft’s results.

MacOS Kernel Flaw Could Allow Full-System Compromise
A researcher going by the name “Siguza” unveiled a 15-year-old security vulnerability in Apple’s macOS operating system that could allow an attacker to fully compromise the system. The researcher also published proof-of-concept zero-day code to his GitHub page.
